SHELTER is the story of a young woman named Kelly who takes refuge from the zombie apocalypse in an abandoned restaurant kitchen with a welcoming stranger named Vince. Grateful that he has offered her shelter and food, Kelly soon starts to question his motives. Why is he so friendly and why does he trust her so easily? What is it about him that puts her on edge? Will she truly find shelter here...or something much worse?
Rick Clifton is the director of the upcoming short film SHELTER. Having produced, directed and worked on many theatrical productions, television shows, feature films, short films and documentaries over the years, Rick is excited to finally bring this story to life. This film will be the result of more than a year of planning, creative development and dedication to the making of this film.
Brent St. Mary is the producer who never stops, the man who always seems to find a way to bring everyone's movie visions to life. Over the past few years he has worked on over 50 short film projects, bringing plenty of first-hand filmmaking knowledge to this project. Together with Sahara Ford-Davis, our Associate Producer, these two are leading the charge and paving the way for future feature films.
Jason Melby and Rick Clifton co-wrote and developed SHELTER together. Jason has been writing for over ten years and has several published books, stage plays and feature scripts. He is awaiting the national release of his first highly anticipated superhero novel later this year.
Shooting this film with the level of special FX makeup we are aiming to achieve will require a great deal of magic. The crazy-talented Lu Leahy will be the Key Special FX Makeup Artist on SHELTER. Lu has worked with Rob Berman, Joe Blasko and has done make-up for many celebrity clients like Michael Madsen, Lee Meriwether and Susan Blakely to name a few.
Making movies – it’s what we live to do, it’s what we think about when we wake up in the morning and what sometimes keeps us up all night. We would love your support as we pursue this crazy dream to bring life to the undead.
While we decided to have a little fun with the campaign video, the film itself is a tense, claustrophobic and taut thriller that will have you gritting your teeth and yelling at the screen every time Kelly makes a decision. Once inside the building with Kelly, it’s one continuous movement through the abandoned kitchen, shot in a cinematic style.
Shooting a full nine minutes as one continuous shot requires a great amount of expertise and specialty equipment. We have assembled a crew of people that are very committed to this project. As a result, we are able to attribute one hundred percent of our budget to production costs. Having managed to secure all of the post production needs, if we can shoot it, we can finish it!
Here's a look at how our budget breaks down.
We would like to invite you to make a contribution in order to help create something extremely exceptional. In return, we will make sure you get something equally special. From bloody, zombie-signed scripts to signed body parts to walk on roles, we are offering some clever and exclusive perks.
Also, given the bite that Rick sustained while making the campaign video, there is even a perk that will turn him into a zombie director by the time the crew is ready to shoot! Every time someone chooses this perk, Rick will become a little zombier along the way.
Above all, we sincerely thank you for your support!
