John Luksetich, the Creator, Writer of "Shadow of the Monarch," John's Mission Statement
Shadow of the Monarch is a feature film that has to be made despite any obstacles in its path. Why? It's a film about hope, fear, power and protecting the ones we love no matter how difficult the task may be. It’s about searching for the innocence, the joy in life by overcoming the greatest evils in ourselves and others lurking in the shadows waiting to strike. It’s about exposing a secret program of mind control to create perfect killing agents with photographic memories while shattering their minds into pieces creating Multiple Personality Programs while showing the divine strength of a heavenly nature to bring hope to these lost souls and turn the tables on the evil men. It’s about sharing the beauty of a butterfly – especially the Monarch and how it can transform our lives. Simply put it’s about LOVE in a world that too often needs reminding of what really is important in life. It’s about YOU and Me and US and THEM and how we are all a little nuts inside in an inspiring way if we just let the butterfly inside us out of its cocoon. Come on, and fly away with us in Shadow of the Monarch!!! Come join the adventure of a lifetime!
The Director Randy Kent
Randy Kent is an Atlanta native who moved to Hollywood to pursue what would turn out to be his lifelong passion of making films. Before doing his own projects, Kent worked as a set decorator and P.A. on many commercials and independent films, one being for screenwriter turned first-time director Harris Goldberg (Deuce Bigalow, Without A Paddle) and starring Robert Forster and Michael Madsen. Kent gained more knowledge for his directing career when he got the chance to be a featured extra on Cameron Crowe’s Almost Famous. The lessons learned on the set proved an invaluable experience for Kent’s budding directorial aspirations. Kent shot Bagboy Productions' first feature film in the summer of 2002, entitled Life, Death & Mini- Golf. The production was an entirely self-financed project and now sells on Amazon.com and various other sites. Filmed in only three locations over a 14-day period, this drama ensemble stars current “Saturday Night Live” cast member Kristen Wiig and former “Another World” co-star Curtis Nysmith.
Kent has written, produced, and directed numerous shorts and commercials in the past ten years, including the short Timmy, The Bag Boy, which won the Audience Choice Award for “Best Short Film” in October 2008 at the Kern Projections Film Festival. Kent has two feature films where he served as a Producer and Director that were released in October of 2011. The first, titled Life Of Lemon, is a sweet little award-winning dramedy that stars “The Wonder Years” dad Dan Lauria, Beth Grant (Little Miss Sunshine), Rachel Miner (“Californication”) and the youngest Farley brother, comedian John Farley. Kent is also shopping the indie horror anthology, The Perfect House. This shock-est is a co-production/co-directing deal with friend Kris Hulbert, and marks the reunion of scream queen Felissa Rose and Jonathan Tiersten, who have not done a film together since their horror classic Sleepaway Camp in the 1980s. The film is the first of it’s kind to ever premiere on Facebook and will hit the DVD shelves in the Summer of 2012. Another film Randy just finished post-production on is the independent epic, The Lempke Brothers. It is a co-production/co-directing deal between Bagboy Productions and Waterwheel Productions and is currently seeking distribution. Kent has been the recipient of numerous awards throughout his career including “Best Comedy Short”, “Best Commercial” and “Best Music Video” at The Hollywood Film Look Festival. He still lives in Los Angeles with his wife and co-writer, Patricia, and their pet fish, Fellini.
Our Financial Goals
We are currently in pre-production, with production scheduled to begin July 31, 2012 in Long Beach, California. We already have on board a talented, diversified cast and crew, and have filmed our teaser.
Where Will Your Participation Dollars Go?
They will be consumed by payroll, location fees, equipment, rentals, props, craft services, insurance, special effects make up, costumes, salaries for the crew, cast (cast and some crew are currently deferred, including myself and John) and attorney fees. Then, we have post-production costs for editing of the film, including picture, sound, music scoring, special effects, color and lab costs -- to name a few. Once the film is out of post-production it will be marketed to film festivals and distributors, and screenings.
Why We Chose IndieGoGo as One of Our Platforms
As you may know, there is much involved that goes into making a great film, and since we are not one of the major financial studio players, we are utilizing crowd sourcing such as the IndieGoGo platform and private entities to gain the necessary funds for "Shadow of the Monarch" to become a reality.
