THANK YOU FOR FUNDING THIS PROJECT!
If you would still like to donate, or attend the REDCAT SHOWCASE on Fri. June 20th @ 8:30 PM, please go to www.thebigshowco.com
The Big Show Co. was founded in Los Angeles in 1999 by UCLA and CalArts alum, Arianne MacBean. The company creates dance-theater performance that integrates movement, text, theater and music. Rooted in a passion for communication, MacBean creates work that highlights the triumphs and failings of language - the language of the body and of text. MacBean makes work that is self-reflexive - poking fun at human failings while exposing universal vulnerabilities that are simultaneously tragic and beautiful.
Arianne MacBean & The Big Show Co. are thrilled to have been invited to perform at ODC in San Francisco. We need your help to get there!
What We Need & What You Get
We need to raise at least $8,000 to cover the tour expenses. These costs include travel, per diem, housing for all four company members, our Lighting Designer/Stage Manager, and Artistic Director. In addition, money raised will cover equipment rental, theater personnel costs, publicity, and production materials.
SO, what exactly does that mean? Let us break it down for you.
$40 donation will cover the cost of one company members food for one day. Help Brad Culver get a nice chicken sandwich! ANYONE who donates $40 or more gets 1 ticket to the invitation-only LA Showcase foe The Big Show Co. at RECAT, downtown's premiere center for contemporary arts housed in the Walt Disney Concert Hall complex. Friday, June 20 at 8:30 PM.
$100 donation will costume company member, Max Eugene, for all performances. Ensure that Max does not have to dance naked!
$500 donation will cover the cost of company members, Genevieve Carson and Angelina Attwell's safe and comfortable sleeping quarters for 4 nights in SF. Help Genevieve and Angelina sleep tight!
Do you want to sponsor opening or closing night? A $2000 donation will cover all of the theater and labor costs for one night's show. Anyone who donates $2000 is credited as an Executive Producer in all publicity and programming.
See the sidebar for the unique perks you get when you participate in this exciting project!
The SF tour and LA Showcase at REDCAT are two HUGE events for The Big Show Co. Arianne is overjoyed at the opportunity to return to her childhood stomping grounds in the Bay Area where her love of dance and theater began, and to share her art with new audiences as well as friends & family.
Presenting a whole evening of work at REDCAT has been on the top of Arianne's "Artistic Bucket List" for years and she is honored to be able to offer contributors to this campaign the opportunity to be a part of the groundbreaking performance. The evening will also include an artist interview facilitated by Shayna Keller, Executive Director of the Dance Resource Center of Greater Los Angeles (and Arianne's former student).
The two pieces presented provide audiences the chance to see the full spectrum of Arianne's unique voice as a choreographer. The People Go Where The Chairs Are (2012) is a perfect example of The Big Show Co.'s witty, playful and irreverent dance-theater work, while the world premiere of present tense (2014) features the company's signature poetic combination of physicality and spoken word.
With over fifteen years of experience producing, presenting and creating professional dance-theater performance, we are asking YOU to make this a BIG year for The Big Show Co.
