Help Send Me to Arteles
Hi, I am Lea Devon. Some people know me, many people don't, but I am trying to change that. You see, I feel like I have something to share with the world, and that something is art. My practice is an auto-ethnographical investigation of my life in pursuit of understanding contemporary American culture. My practice is about calling attention to the constructs of American success and the emotional investments we place in possessions and entertainment to create individuality.
I am currently a working artist in Minneapolis, MN. Since moving here for graduate school, I have been awarded many amazing opportunities to share my ideas and passion with people, including a few residencies, group and solo shows, and other collaborative experiences.
I need your contribution to help me progress my artistic career, and make art that I believe has an impact on people and the world around me. What you get, besides the obvious satisfaction of helping someone aspiring to fulfill their dreams, is the possibility of owning unique artistic works, or artistic experiences that provide in-depth insights into my thought process and artistic practice.
/// The funding that I am asking for goes directly to the expenses I have/will incur traveling to Arteles. (Plains, Trains, and Automobiles). Most importantly your funding will go to material cost of creating work at Arteles; that I need to share with you and the world.
/// In exchange for your support I will be creating specific work that addresses previous projects I have created, re-contextualized, so that you can own parts of them. I will also be making individual pieces, performances, and interjections that can be owned or experienced based solely from this opportunity that I will share with you.
/// If I do not reach my entire goal, the funds will still be applied to everything I have outlined, so no matter what your contributions will go to me creating new work!
My promise to you is to try my hardest to make your investment in me a worthwhile endeavor. I have attended several residencies, and maintain a consistent national artistic practice. I am dedicated to becoming someone that influences people positively through artistic intervention. The more I can participate in opportunities like Arteles ensures that my goal of trying to understand why culturally we eat too much, spend too much, and cry at reality television is fully understood and communicated.
