myHeart, yourHands is a 501 (c)(3) tax exempt organization, borne out of a shared passion for the potential late effects of cancer treatment among survivors. Co-Founders, Judy Bode and Stephanie Zimmerman are adults survivors of childhood cancers diagnosed in the 1970's who have come face to face with a few late effects, including heart failure requiring heart transplantation.
Second, Second Chance is a passion project that we believe holds the potential to spare hearts among other things in the lives of individual survivors. We will be approaching this project incrementally across multiple campaigns.
Why is this project important to us?
Because no one should be cured of cancer only to succomb to the late effects of life-saving treatments.
This project offers the contributor a most unique opportunity to impact the future health and wellbeing of ALL cancer survivors, to be an instrument in the actual saving of lives.
There are 13 million survivors in the US alone; 2.2 million are breast cancer survivors; 328,000 are survivors of childhood cancers. These numbers will only continue to grow. Ultimately, MHYH intends to fund innovative, less toxic therapies such that late effects become a thing of the past; however, we can NOT accomplish this goal without YOU.
What We Need & What You Get
Funding raised from this campaign will go directly towards the production and distribution of a documentary style film pieces that will serve to educate and equip cancer survivors, those who love them, those who are charged with the provision of the healthcare, and future healthcare providers.
If we fall short of our $50,000 goal, then we will revisit the budget. Nevertheless, the monies will be allocated to bringing the story of late effects before the world as a means to educate and equip cancer survivors everywhere.

On a personal note, I believe that anyone reading this would be hard-pressed not to know someone who has been affected by cancer whether personally, a family member, or friend.
Every cancer survivor carries the risk for potential late effects; the question is whether or not they are aware, informed, and equipped to advocate on their own behalf.
We will pursue this goal without relent until late effects are brought to an end once and for all.
