THE PROJECTI am a UK filmmaker, currently in preproduction with my horror movie "SCREEN". http://www.screen-movie.com. The movie shoots from the 6th of July in Tulsa, Oklahoma. I am currently based in Tulsa. You can see my video diaries at the hardcore indie blog here. http://hcoreindie.posterous.com
I have joined forces with another filmmaker (Oklahoma Ward). We are shooting our movies back to back. http://www.hardcoreindiestudios.com This is a partnership to start our own production studio. SCREEN and CRAWL are the first two movies from our partnership.
My film is cast, I have my crew, locations, and I have all the shooting kit. I even have meetings with Hollywood distributors in the months ahead, who have shown interest in our projects. However, I do need to raise a little cash for costs that were unexpected, mainly for the scenes at the drive-in.
There is a large party scene at the drive-in, so I will need extra
- Toilet facilities
- Trailer for shoot-edit workflow, and SFX make up team
- Large projector
- Extra drinks
- Cooling tents
- Extra hard drives
- SFX make up expenses
Whatever happens the movie is shooting, but I have come to indiegogo to see if I can secure these extra production costs. This extra $5000 will make things go so much smoother. I want to make the best movie I can make. In return, I can give some exclusive perks.
THE MOVIE PITCH
A large group of young people are found scared to death in their cars at a Drive-In movie screen. Whatever they saw was so terrifying, it killed them all. The story is told through two females who travel to the drive-in after they hear about this Halloween screening.
Its the 35th anniversary of previous deaths at the drive-in. Teenagers were found in front of the same screen years before. The deaths in the 70's were unexplained but the media spin hinted at a mass suicide. Others claim they all died of heart attacks after seeing something evil on the screen.
MICRO TRAILERS, TEASERS, EXTENDED WEB CONTENT
All the characters in the movie have video mobile phones, so I am also going to shoot many points of view from various characters as they drive to the event in their cars, and video at the party before the movie starts. There will also be footage from media, witnesses when the bodies are found.
This content will go online for free before the movie release to build up the mystery, and to flesh out the characters. But none of this content will ever show what killed them all. You have to see the main movie to follow the journey of the two females, and to find out what what they saw.
BACKGROUND AS A FILMMAKER.
I have two feature films to my credit. My first film was a caper comedy set in Scotland, LA, and Las Vegas. It was an industry funded and released film. It was not a good experience for me because there was too many executives involved, but it was a great film school for me. "Pasty Faces"
I recently self funded my previous film. "MISSION X" http://www.missionx.co.uk. I made the film because I wanted to get my love for filmmaking back. I also wanted to see if I could make a movie very cheaply. I made it for $5000. It has been a good calling card, as several top film companies are considering remaking it into a bigger US film, but I never wait for that call.
Making Mission X gave me the confidence to go for the movie I really wanted to make. SCREEN. This movie has the potential to reach a much bigger market, as original high concept micro budget horrors are in demand. Me and Oklahoma Ward have already had interest from the industry for SCREEN and CRAWL.
We are going to see the top distributors but we also have our marketing and distribution plan. This involves taking our movies across the US with a double feature mobile drive-in roadshow.
I fully appreciate that there are a lot of projects out there, but I do believe that I have a very unique film, and it has huge potential to reach a wide audience. If you can't support it with a donation, please share it with everybody you know.
