"RovAir is an innovative company with sustainable and creative ideas that will help provide a viable and affordable option for internet connectivity to a segment of our society who otherwise would not have the ability to afford Internet access."   - U.S. Senator John Kerry (read his Letter of Support).

3.02.13 - Successful test of 4G LTE personal hotspot for RovAir OnDemand service!  Very encouraging.  Wouldn't it be nice to have your own device and have RovAir activate it only when you need it?

Interest about RovAir is growing. Come join the revolution!

Why is this campaign important?  "4 in 5"

Many resources are not scarce.  However, they can be unattainable.  Mobile broadband is certainly a good example.  We often take for granted just how empowering reliable connectivity can be to our lives; how it can enrich many aspects of our lives.  We also assume that access is everywhere. The fact is, over 119 million persons in the US alone do not have broadband access, 1 in 3 persons.  The world numbers are even more disparate as an astounding 4 in 5 persons do not have reliable access.

There are many reasons why broadband access may be difficult to obtain.  It could be unaffordable or there may be a lack of infrastructure, but in all cases a lack of access puts persons at a competitive, educational, social and market disadvantage.

We at RovAir thought about what could happen if we could SHARE broadband resources and make them more attainable for all.  The ability to introduce mobile broadband into the Sharing Economy, by allowing those with access to share with others, can bring affordable access to many more persons.  By sharing costs and benefits in a collaborative way, all parties involved can benefit greatly; from the individual to the business to the network carrier.  The opportunity in developing nations is even more staggering.  It is hugely important issue, with a potentially huge impact for millions of people.  RovAir is pioneering mobile broadband into the Sharing Economy.

What does RovAir do?

We provide on demand mobile broadband access. Anywhere you can get a cellular signal you can get online, anytime you want.  We call it RovAir OnDemand.

How does RovAir do it?

We can turn on mobile broadband devices only when you need it and for any time period.  Then we turn it off when you are finished. We use a Collaborative Consumption platform that lets us share our lines, or other companies', with you, when you want it.

What is a mobile broadband device?

It is a USB stick or personal wifi hotspot which allows you to connect a laptop, tablet or smartphone to the internet over a wireless data network.

Where would I use a device like this?

Just about anywhere - for your business trip, a weekend getaway, at a tradeshow, at the airport, even the beach.  Anywhere you need quick and convenient access to the internet.  No need to go searching for WiFi.  It can now be in your pocket.

When would I use a device like this?

Anytime you require the internet way from your home or office.  The completion of the web-based interface will allow you to connect from any location at anytime.  No need to go searching for WiFi.  It can now be in your pocket, ready to use whenever you need it.

What does it cost?

Because we use 100% refurbished devices, we are good for your pocketbook and the environment.  We can usually provide devices for under $50.  You can also rent them.  Or, you can search for a compatible device in a number of online outlets.  The RovAir OnDemand service costs just a few dollars per day, but you connect only when you want and pay for only when you use it.

What is the project?

We are seeking to complete a web-based platform which will allow us to provide automatic activations and also provide connections down to the hour or even for just minutes at a time.  It is an interface for you. . . to schedule activations, add time and share with others.

We also want to procure more compatible equipment and get it in your hands so you can use the service whenever you like.

Why is RovAir different?

Rovair - Tech Goes Home

We do it through a very cool platform called Collaborative Consumption, part of the emerging Sharing Economy.  Time Magazine called it one of the “Ten Ideas That Will Change the World” It allows us to identify unused broadband resources, lines and data, and SHARE it with you, your company, or a program in need.  In fact, we are working with one program in need right now, Tech Goes Home.  Take a look...

What is so cool about Collaborative Consumption?

Rovair - Collaborative Consumption

Collaborative Consumption re-imagines how we can access things by sharing them.  It says if we can identify and re-allocate unused resources, we can allow many more people access to these resources, sharing both the cost and the benefit.  RovAir identifies broadband resources, lines and data, and shares it with you.  It’s all part of the new Sharing Economy.  A lot of great companies use the same methodology, Airbnb, ZipCar, TaskRabbit, RelayRides.  See the video. . .

What else can you do to help?

We know it is not always possible to contribute funds, but you can help us considerably if you can forward this link to your network via Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Reddit or any other social media outlet.

We thank you so much for your support.  Only together can we bring mobile broadband and all of the benefits of living, working and interacting in a connected society to many, many more people.
