Our goal is to enrich the cultural fabric of the region and increase happiness through music, because research shows that communities with thriving arts programs are healthier and more economically successful. We aim to connect people who care about original music with others in the community who share a passion for live performance. We support artists in all musical genres – our only criteria are that artists write their own songs, play their own instruments, and sing with authentic voices.
We plan to cultivate emerging talent in the local music community through educational outreach and scholarships. Additionally, we aim to provide local musicians the chance to share the stage with national and international performers and connect with audiences in intimate listening rooms throughout the area.
Our flagship project is MeadowGrass, a multi-day music festival held each year during Memorial Day weekend among the pines at the beautiful campus of the La Foret Conference and Retreat Center in Black Forest, Colorado. We are also working with the Pikes Peak Community Foundation to re-vision the Mountain of the Sun Music Festival into a concert series with performances at Aspen Valley Ranch and Venetucci Farm. Rocky Mountain Highway is assuming responsibility for managing the Raven Nest concert series at Aspen Valley Ranch and Friends House Concerts, a small venue series now entering its 14th year in Colorado Springs.
Contributions to Rocky Mountain Highway, which is a component fund of the Pikes Peak Community Foundation, are tax-deductible to the extent that the donation exceeds the fair market value of any perks claimed by the donor.
