Hello, my name is Chris Marsh and I am an award winning independent video maker from the North-West of England, UK. I have been making narrative films for around 2 years with good festival success, i have also taught in this medium and my education was in the theoretical side of film.
I have an intense love for the experimental and abstract nature of film, believing that science fiction is the perfect genre to use these beliefs.
The film itself will be a short black and white film, around 15-20 minutes in length. It will be shot in both HD and Digital Harinezumi, though the final cut will be grained. The story line and style of this film will have an essence given to it from the low budget films in European cinema around the 1970s (La Jetee as an example).
The film will centre around a pair of wasteland wanderers, a girl and a boy, who upon finding a derelict building, venture inside. Once inside the exploration begins, and a discovery made. This discovery will change both their lives and others unbeknownst to them. the full story can be read here - http://rhombus2013.tumblr.com/Story
With the help of contributers (you) i know we (myself, the production team and cast) will create a nostaligic alternative science fiction, BUT we need some funds to help us realise this concept. We have a lot of people working on this for free, but we need money to help lift up the production value (the costumes, the props etc.)
What We Need & What You Get
We do not require a lot of money, i want to run this film to a tight budget, concentrating on innovation, rather than throwing money at every problem.
We need the minimum i would say, around £500. From this money these are the areas it will go towards - (travel for cast/crew to the wonderful locations we have planned, clothing for all the actors to create that sense of past and future, for make up and effects supplies, it will also go towards helping us promote the film, to give it the attention i believe it will deserve, especially towards the final edit.
Budget Breakdown - this is how i have split the £500 up.
Travel - £100
Costume - £125
Props - £125
Make-up/effects - £100
Publicity - £50
If we do not reach our total goal, the money will still be divided up, but will concentrate more on the costume/prop/make up of the film. Ultimately your money given must be shown on the screen and not all in the background.
Ultimately, the money given to us will help to create a story and style of film that is not really created anymore. A good exerimental science fiction that has its intense moments and its surreal moments.
There are roughly 15-20 people involved with this project (cast and crew) so it would mean a lot to all of us if we could reach this goal. I believe you would also be helping out the belief of alternative cinema at a lower level.
Other Ways You Can Help
If you can, please help us along by sharing the project via the indiegogo share button, we obviously need money, but we will be grateful for any help, sharing, word of mouth etc.
And that’s all there is to it.
