Although with the initial budget we can hire help on the art assets, with this extra budget we can outsource a bigger batch of assets, which leaves room for us to concentrate more on the puzzles. More puzzles and story extension, approximately 1,5-2 hours more content!

A sci-fi noir, a mystery, a first person puzzle game. Reset is infused with mind boggling puzzles, a grippingly haunting but beautiful story and an unparalleled immersive atmosphere.
Reset is a single player adventure. The unique game mechanic in Reset is the ability to travel back in time to solve puzzles co-operatively with yourself. You multiply yourself by first marking a place/time of re-entry in the game world and then proceeding to complete one part of a puzzle. You then reset (jump back in time) to the re-entry mark creating two separate co-existing timelines. But the mechanic is not limited to two timelines, more elaborate puzzles have multiple timelines for some serious mind fun.
The second-to-second gameplay is similar to games like Portal but the mechanic is akin to games like The Misadventures of P.B. Winterbottom, Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time, Prometheus UDK.
The full experience of Reset depends on you knowing very little about the story beforehand. Not spoiling too much we can tell you that the story takes place on a fictional volcanic island in the Galápagos. You will be free to roam the mysterious 16 square km game world in which individual puzzles can be discovered and solved in any order.
Wandering around and
exploring the mysterious game world is something that players will enjoy
at their own pace so that is something that will affect the length
possibly greatly, but we are looking at around 6 hours of brain teasing gameplay. Although the story is strongly tied to the puzzles, the island is littered with bits and pieces of information, that will deepen the experience. This game is meant to be played in a couple of sittings and
leave you thinking about it hopefully for some time after that. It's meant to be played, enjoyed and
leave your brain tingling afterwards.

Reset requires Windows Vista or newer as well as graphics hardware compliant with DirectX 10. We take advantage of some features that are optional in DirectX 10, so not all hardware of that level may be able to run the game. All hardware compliant with DirectX 10.1 or newer will be able to run the game.
Support for Linux, OS X and SteamOS as well as upcoming consoles (Xbox One and PlayStation 4) has been discussed internally. No plans have been drawn yet but whatever the future may hold, we will be concentrating on Windows first.
System specs are not defined yet but since we are on the PC platform, we
will embrace it to the fullest and release Reset with an abundance of
settings to tweak. High visual quality is very important to us so there
will be that very high-end point to really set your machine on fire, but
we and the game are not all about just that. We want the game to be enjoyed by PC
gamers of all levels.
Oculus Rift support added! (17.12.2013)
We finally received the Oculus Rift dev kit a while ago and we are supersupersuper excited about it! It’s just perfect for Reset, hands down. From the beginning we set out to create a game where you can really feel the atmosphere and now the Rift can take the experience beyond what we hoped to achieve originally.

We are Theory Interactive Ltd., currently a two man independent game development powerhouse from Espoo, Finland. Alpo Oksaharju (on the right) is responsible for writing, art and most of the design while Mikko Kallinen (on the left) is responsible for the tech and music. Previously we worked at Futuremark mainly on Shattered Horizon and 3DMark projects for a combined length of 14 years.
We use our own tech called Praxis. Our intention is to follow our passions and lead our own way at the forefront of immersive gaming. As a small team many of the traditional methods and practices of the industry are simply unavailable to us, so we have to improvise. In-house technology allows us to customize everything to our needs.
We started Theory in 2011 to facilitate the development of Reset. Since then we have been building our tech and the basis of the actual game with determination and dedication. Reset is a dream project for us and we decided from the get-go to get it done by just the two of us and without external funding. Now the extremely positive feedback we've gotten has pushed us to up the stakes a bit. We want to make the game even better. We'd also like to get the game out to you guys sooner rather than later. This is where you come in.
We are looking to release the game at the end of 2014. With your help we will be able to add proper voice talent and sound effect work, contract or even hire help with content creation and keep the company running and maybe even eat once in a while.
We have a clear vision and we've laid a sturdy groundwork and now the aim of this campaign is to take it to the next level and really start putting meat on the bones.
All contributors enjoy our eternal gratitude and will get their names listed in the credits roll, with the option to remain anonymous, of course.
Support Pack Perk added! (Update 12.11.2013)
Now you can support the project with just 1€ and receive an exclusive digital support pack: A desktop wallpaper set (4 images). This pack is also included in all other perks.
Some perks come with a special limited edition funder T-shirt with a design similar to the above. The supplier for the T-shirts has not been selected yet. Normal sizes (S-XXL) apply, please leave a private comment with your size or send your size by email. T-shirts will be shipped soon after the campaign closes (if successful). Those perks that include also the physical copy of the game will receive two separate deliveries, the T-shirt during the development and the physical copy after the game is finished.
Some perks come with a special limited edition physical copy of the game. The physical copy will be packaged in an ultra-stylish JakeBox DVD case with a design similar to the above and will come with a full-color booklet.
Some perks come with a high quality digital (download) audio format of the game's original soundtrack. Mikko Kallinen, the man behind the tech is also the man behind the music. Some perks come with a (virtual) medal. As a true supporter your name will be engraved on a special "Funders' Wall" inside the game. The wall is a permanent memorial location on the island commemorating the people who made all this possible. Some of the higher perks come with your name engraved on the wall's "Hall of Fame" section and listed first in the ending credits.
The medal perks also come with an exclusive "Funder's digital certificate pack" including:

All perks (except Support Pack) come of course with the actual game when it is finished. Either only in digital download format or in both digital and physical disc format. Digital download will be provided hopefully through Steam but also as a DRM free version through GOG or similar service.

Each World Designer will get to work with us to bring one key asset of their design into the game. The asset may be e.g. a building, a vehicle, a piece of furniture. These items are nonfunctional but are one time hero assets that will personify the key locations and thus become memorable. The Design process will be customized to each World Designer's abilities and ideas. No 3D modelling knowledge is needed. The design can be described through drawings, photos, written text, what ever is your method of creation. We will work with each World Designer individually to flesh out the design and we will translate the design into the game world. Details will be negotiated with each World Designer on a case-by-case basis early next year.
Each NPC Designer will get to work with us to develop a key character. Although the NPCs will not be visible as animated characters, they will have a strong presence in the game via audio and other forms of media. The characters will be in an important role in the story. NPC Designer's likeness can be incorporated in the character if so desired. Details will be negotiated with each NPC Designer on a case-by-case basis early next year.
We will hold a launch party somewhere in Helsinki, Finland near the time of the game's release. You get to party hard with the dev team and the cream of Finland's game dev scene. Travel and other expenses will not be covered by us.
The true power of crowdfunding is the possibility to include you, the ones we are making this game for, in the development process. This section will be filled as the campaign progresses.
