With the launch of Remember Heroes, we can reshape both the way people remember their loved ones and the way we honor our veterans. By decorating, seeing and most importantly sharing the grave of a hero, friends and family members can build a living, interconnected memorial that stands stronger than stone.
Physical location should not prevent someone from honoring a man or woman who has laid everything on the line for our freedom. We want anyone to be able to decorate any veteran’s grave, any time, anywhere. There are about 4.9 million veterans’ graves in all 128 national cemeteries. Upon launch, we can serve 1.7 million of those, roughly one third. Join our cause to help us serve them all.
Remember Heroes Indiegogo
The goal of our company's Indiegogo campaign is twofold:
- Raise awareness for Remember Heroes and honor America's veterans by blanketing 2,000 grave-sites with fresh flowers for Veterans Day.
- Raise enough money to expand our service to as many of the 128 national cemeteries as we possibly can by Memorial Day, 2014.
Honoring American veterans is central to our mission; our $20,000 goal will help us to place fresh flowers on 2,000 gravesites on Veterans Day. In addition to honoring deceased heroes on Veterans Day, our $20,000 goal will help us to double the number of cemeteries we serve from 10 to 20.
GREEN is where we are, RED is where we are going!
The RH Story
Our concept was, at its birth, the dream of a Marine who missed his friends. Mike Merit, a disabled veteran and co-founder of our organization, made a wish on Memorial Day 2012 that he could honor his fallen comrades at national cemeteries thousands of miles away without traveling.
He wished that he could somehow see the graves of his brothers and sisters in arms that were lost while serving in Iraq and Afghanistan.
With Mike’s vision, we founded an organization that allows you to remember and honor American heroes in three ways: by putting flowers on their grave, seeing their memorial decorated with those flowers and sharing it with those you love.
At Remember Heroes, we know nothing can come close to the feeling of loyalty that personally visiting the final resting place of your loved ones imparts — and we don’t seek to imitate that. But, we can enable those who can’t make it to the grave themselves, people like Mike, to also honor and remember their heroes.
Our Service, as easy as 1 2 3...4 5 6 7 8
We’ve given you a broad explanation of how our service works; now let us take you step by step through the entire process. Once an order is placed, we accomplish three tasks that allow you to honor your hero in a unique and significant way.
- We deliver high-quality, fresh and unique floral arrangements to any Veterans grave in a national cemetery.
- We send back high-resolution images of the gravesite, flower placement and cemetery.
- We create a secure memorial page with these images and a 360 degree panoramic that you can invite your friends and family to see. Everyone invited can share stories, pictures and videos to remember their fallen hero.
In October, we will be able to take orders on our website for our first ten national cemeteries. When you log on to rememberheroes.org, we will follow an easy process that allows you to choose your veteran and place an order for delivery in the next four business days.
Frequently Asked Questions
What cemeteries do we currently serve?
We will be able to place flowers in ten national cemeteries by the end of the IndieGoGo campaign. These ten national cemeteries are:
- Arlington National Cemetery
- Riverside National Cemetery
- Florida National Cemetery
- Calverton National Cemetery
- Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery
- Ft. Snelling National Cemetery
- Ft. Logan National Cemetery
- Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery
- Dallas-Ft. Worth National Cemetery
- National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific
How will you collect necessary information for delivery of my perk?
If you claim a perk that requires information like your twitter handle, your Hero's story or shirt size, expect an email before the campaign ends asking for that information.
What veterans' organizations do we support?
Right now we are actively searching for veteran service organizations to partner with. If you have any recommendations please don’t hesitate to contact us and help build our network of sponsorships across the country.
How long will it take to get the flowers delivered?
If you place an order for immediate delivery, it takes between 3-4 business days to receive your images back. The main reason for this delay is that each bouquet is built specifically for you and is then shipped after the order is placed.
Who actually delivers the flowers and takes the pictures?
Remember Heroes has placement partners around the country that handle our deliveries and take flowers directly to the National Cemetery. It varies at each location, but partners are active duty military, veterans, sons and daughters of veterans or veteran organizations.
Where do the bouquets come from?
A professional florist in Florida who specializes in large-volume orders arranges the bouquets. We are partnered with Sam’s Club, who helps us transport our flowers to each national cemetery.
