Protect your work. Protect your treasures with MicroSeal Q
Rachel Brown. I have been quilting since 1972, and opened Rachel’s
Quilt Patch in 1997. My daughter, Kay joined me 7 years ago.
Fabric, color, sewing and quilting are my passions. There is nothing
that compares with the satisfaction of putting the last stitch in the
binding of a quilt or stitching the documentation label in place on
the finished quilt.
The Missing Step
A year and a half ago I learned about one more step that will really complete my quilt, the application of MicroSeal Q. Until now, quilters have not had a product we could trust to protect our quilts without compromising the integrity of the fabric. MicroSeal Q is a revolutionary product that sinks into the fibers of the cloth and protects it from UV light fading, and seals it from spills, stains and dirt, all without changing the hand or feel of the fabric. It has changed how I think about finishing my quilts.
Q has earned its well tested and finely tuned reputation in the field
of upholstery and carpeting fibers used in yachts, house boats and
private jets. It is the only approved protection in the aerospace industry
for 25 years.
I am excited about the opportunity to add MicroSeal Q to our services at Rachel’s Quilt Patch. MicroSealQ will protect your family’s keepsakes and treasures in a way you have never been able to before. Whether it’s a piece that has been handed down to you that your grandmother and her sisters worked on together, your first knitting project that snuggled your children or a needlework piece you just finished. We can help you protect it.
We invite you to be a part of this new venture.
With your help we will be fully prepared to treat quilts and other handmade items with the best protection available for fibers.
Your contribution will help us fit the spray room in our box car with the equipment needed, ventilation, building materials, labor, training and licenses. You will also be helping us market this service throughout the area.
Thank you for your contribution in this project that will bring a wonderful new service to our community and surrounding areas. After you have made your contribution, please share this news with your friends and acquaintances.
MicroSealQ Cost Estimate
As with other quilting options, the application fee of MicroSealQ is figured on a cost per square foot. If you are wondering how much of your reward certificate will go toward your first MicroSealQ application, here is the equation.
Quilt length ______ x width _______ = ______ divided by 144 = ______ x $1 = cost of application of MicroSealQ per side
A typical queen size quilt is 90x108 so:
90 x 108 = 9720 div by 144 x $1 = $67.50 cost of MicroSealQ-ing that quilt top.
Our Campaign Perks
Starting at the $50 contribution mark part of your perk is a certificate for you to use toward your first MicroSealQ application.
At the $100 contribution level and above you will receive a special edition Rachel's Quilt Patch mug. They are handmade by the Deneen Pottery Company in Minnesota.
Your Questions Answered
We were so excited about getting this product and getting the
information to you for our IndieGoGo campaign, we forgot about the questions we had when we first
learned about this product.
Can the piece be used or washed after MicroSealQ is applied?
Absolutely! MicroSealQ does not alter the feel or hand of the fabric and one application last up to 12 washes before reapplication is suggested.
Is it toxic?
No. It is actually non-toxic and non allergenic. It is considered a green product.
Is there an odor?
There is a slight odor when the product is applied, but goes away as it dries.
- Purchase the equipment to spray, product, the license, and training.
- The installation of a ventilation system in the boxcar (although the VOC's - spray fumes - are low (low enough to meet California requirements) we have to follow Staunton City code and have full ventilation of the space we are applying the product. In our case, this is the boxcar)
- Advertising for 2 months.
- Accounting fees to make sure all campaign related expenses & income are accounted for appropriately.
- Cost of the rewards.
- Cost of the fees to IndieGoGo for hosting our campaign.
- Cost of fees to get the campaign up and running including video production and publicity help.
Why crowdfund the project?
Running a crowdfunding campaign helps garner local support, educate customers and fellow business owners about the product/service of MicroSealQ. It also helps publicize the addition of this unique service to our area.
We have had customers say that it's a way for them to support local business in a new way. They feel they are making a true impact on the future of their local economy.
Thank you for your contribution to our project.
We are truly grateful.
Thank you, Rachel & Kay
