NOTE: the "Target Goal" is a rough outline of expenses through next spring. If we raise more than that, it's more interactive live wrestling events & experiences we'll have with even more superstars & Hall of Famer's that will also be available online!
AN OPEN LETTER
Tuesday, March 4th, 2014 - 11:36PM
It feels like Christmas Eve. . . for months, we threw around ideas to come up with the best online campaign possible to captivate millions of fans that have enjoyed Millennium Wrestling Federation live events and videos, either in person and / or online, over the past 12+ years, and hopefully make new fans in the process. Having been involved in so many fundraisers over the years, I knew to get the best bang for the fans buck, so to speak, we needed to have star power and open up the tape vault. What we have are 33 amazing days of professional wrestling all the way through WrestleMania Sunday, April 6th. Fans from around the globe can take advantage of 20 different rewards for donations of all sizes (NOTE: additional rewards will be added - if any sell out, we have great replacement items!!). #ProjectX will feature daily shoot interview style videos with MWF Undisputed Champion Carlito, the insane Al Snow and myself covering a wide range of topics, openly and honestly. To mix things up, several days of the week will have a theme:
-- "Sin City Sunday's" gives you a seat at Cauliflower Alley Club awards in Las Vegas, NV with some Hall of Fame stars!
-- "Talkin' Tuesday's" brings you some unique interviews with superstars of every generation.
-- "Throwback Thursday's" will have great MWF in-ring action, some of which has never been available online before.
-- "Sheiky Baby Saturday's" - put the women and children to bed, this is The Iron Sheik uncensored in more never before seen footage - viewer discretion is advised!
-- "Madness Behind The Mania" on April 6th before the big one in New Orleans. We'll have extended video of our WrestleMania I retrospect with "Mr. Wonderful" Paul Orndorff, The Iron Sheik and "Cowboy" Bob Orton.
For 12+ years, the MWF has been quite a journey, 24/7/365. If you want to do it right, you can't take a day off. The fans, the athletes and professional wrestling deserve that much respect. We strive to give fans the best value in professional wrestling at our live events with VIP Packages, where they can see, meet and interact with superstars known worldwide. Our younger athletes deserve to work on the best platform possible to soak in wisdom from respected veterans that have been to the dance. There are ways to cut corners to save money, but it's penny wise, dollar stupid. Wrestling fans know good wrestling when they see it, and they know bad wrestling when they see it (even more so). The body of work we've produced over the past dozen years is something I'm very proud of. It hasn't always been a home run, sometimes we've run into a hard hit line drive out to center. But more often than not, our never say quit work ethic has provided fans with some memorable moments that will last a lifetime.
So why are we trying to get into your wallet between now and April 6th?? It's real simple - we need the money. Running a regional wrestling promotion is extremely challenging in this day and age. People that in many cases would be better off buying a ticket to support the genre have opened up "schools" producing "wrestlers" and running "shows" that is flat out insulting to everyone that's ever paid their dues through hard work. On any given Saturday, you could find a dozen shows in the northeast. Are there that many skilled PROFESSIONAL wrestlers here?? I'll let you answer that. Even men and women with good intentions can do a lot of harm to something they honestly love. We don't want them on our team. Die-hard fans may know the different promotions and wrestlers, but, the majority of the fans look at everything "non-WWE" under the same umbrella - screw them once, they're unlikely to come back. Beyond other wrestling events, being in a large market, there are an endless choices for folks entertainment and sport dollar. It's reality.
This campaign will help us be who we want to be where we want to be. It's a difficult pill to swallow, but our Carolina events have done great. John Cena Sr. was a mastermind bringing the brand there. But Boston's our home. We've done everything humanly possible to give back to the sport in a respectful, positive manner. We're proud of the charity work we've done, raising tens of thousands of dollars for a variety of non-profits, including being named Special Olympics Partner from 2011-2014. There's still a lot to do in every aspect of our organization and we look forward to the challenge.
If you take a look to your right, you know we've got some awesome merchandise to give to you as a reward for donating to this campaign. We also want you to feel like you're doing something good for the business we all love so much because every dollar you donate is going towards things like:
-- Indiegogo / Paypal fees (as much as 13% of campaign alone)
-- Production of 26 full length television programs and dozens of MWF Xtra webisodes.
-- At least 7 live events and personal appearances, including SOUL SURVIVOR X and our HOLIDAY HEADLOCKS charity dinner that kicks off our December toy drive, airing footage from Boston, Las Vegas, NC and NYC.
-- Superstar appearance fees
-- Airfare / travel / hotels
-- Venue rentals
-- Television & online advertising
-- Production equipment
-- Rewards & their shipment
-- The dozens of small things that go into producing live events and TV productions that add up quick!
This is a "flexible" campaign, meaning we can make this bad boy as big as we want it to be. More superstars, more live events, more interviews, more autographs, more original videos for you to enjoy. We often hear "I wanna see______" and with Indiegogo we can fill in the blanks that much easier. Our target goal is only a rough estimate on what we feel the spring of 2014-2015 will cost us to present fans the MWF experience without restrictions. If fans donate more than the target goal, we've got some really cool ideas, and likely ideas that we haven't even thought of yet that you'll love!! If for some reason this campaign doesn't meet the target, we'll have to adjust our budget accordingly.
Call me crazy, but I'm optimistic wrestling fans will support this. Wrestling fans are awesome, even if they don't always have the same opinions or get along. Non-fans will never "get it," but we do. I've been doing this since I was 13 years old through a lot of luck, and a lot more dedication and sacrifice. Whether you want an autographed Fabobuck, an apple, a t-shirt, or even a live MWF event in your town, we want to give back to those that help us. That's the way we've always been, that's the way we'll always be as long as I'm alive and kickin', we've never asked for anything without giving back.
The clock struck 1AM, it's officially March 5th. Sadly, it's the one year anniversary of Paul Bearer's passing, a moment and week I'll never forget. Myself, Carlito and Al taped a nice tribute to him that will be available on this campaign today and I'm hoping to add our in-ring tribute with X-Pac that took place the night of his funeral that we had to miss because "the show must go on."
Please spread the word about this campaign to your friends and fellow fans, sending them a link to this page or any of the following:
Thank you! Let's rock it guys!
