Project Fund GFS sophomore CD-the Return

GFS's campaign is about raising the funds by the beginning of May to complete their 2nd CD called "the Return".

The GFS Short Summary

Members of the Christian rap group GFS didn't always resemble the God-loving, God-fearing artists they are today. Demond Davis comes from a religious family background—raised by his great grandparents, Reverend Jesse and Lottie Wheeler. In his early teens, he fell prey to the evils of the world such as gang banging, dope dealing, drug addiction, and sexual immorality. After spending 11 years locked away, God reminded Davis that he is still one of His flock. He has rededicated his life to Christ and is truly a changed man.

Omar Renee Ficklin (aka O.P.S.—Omar's Precious Salvation) grew up facing challenges that are common among African-American youth—gangs, drugs, and alcohol. He and Davis became friends and began rapping together. Twenty years later, O.P.S. has rededicated his life to Christ and uses his life experiences as a testimony of how God has saved his life.

Donald E. Nelson is tagged as "d-jam the JESUS freak". Through life's challenges, he has chosen to surrender to God and walk according to his calling. He became a deacon then minister at Relationships in Christ in Palmdale, California, with a passion to serve God. Through this music ministry, he desires to reach lost souls, encourage weary souls, inspire God's people, and provide guidance to the churches, ultimately promoting the importance of an intimate relationship with God through Jesus.

This campaign "the Return" is important to us first and foremost because people are important to us.  The whole person (heart, mind, body, & soul).  But just as important is the question we constantly ask ourselves...what kind of world are we leaving our children?  We're all for freedom of speech, but along with that freedom comes the responsibility for balance as artists.  For example, they say there is no market for Christian rap, yet Lecrae "an evangelical Christian rapper has taken over the iTunes hip-hop/rap chart. Three of the top 10 spots, including slots No. 1 and No. 2, have belonged to Lecrae ever since his new album, Gravity, dropped on Sept. 4."

So, it is the youth primarily, but also the parents because let's face it...rap has been around for 30 years now.  You will be helping us bring true balance to the arts where every voice should be heard.  And souls will be ministered to in the process.  I know......I was one.  You see Christian rap has been around just as long as secular rap.  Most people don't know that.

The GFS Impact

You will help keep us competitive, professional, and send the message that the artistic community continues to be balanced.  Music is one of the things left where there should always be not only true freedom of speech, but also freedom of artistic expression.  We don't believe in the censorship of these expressions….including Christian in nature.  What you have read in the short summary above is our outreach to the world.  These are things we have each experienced ourselves.

* Long time habitual drug abuse.

* Destructive and unhealthy relationships.

* Gang Bangin' and the things that come with it.

* Prison.

* Serious alcohol abuse.

The list above is just to name a few.  We serve a God where it is never too late to make a change.  Whoever is ministered to when they hear our music or interact with us online or in person is who God has us to minister to.  Young, old, black, white, red, brown, yellow.  Well, you get the picture.  And also, those who don't prefer to listen or who do, and don't like it.  That's okay too.  That's the beauty of living in a free country.  Thankful to God for our troops too!

Those that contribute and sponsor us, know that it is greatly appreciated and seen as an awesome blessing!  We have fun but don't take our responsibility as artists lightly. By the grace of God souls will be reached and impacted.

God Bless you all,

GFS - We love because He first loved us.
