By helping us out, you can be a part of it too.
Written for a 4-9 year-old audience, Planet Earth Kids Club tells the story of Tom, who lives in Compupiter - a planet where life happens through the screens.
School is virtual, friends are met via the screen, and even the museum is yet another website to visit...
One day Tom finds out about planet Earth. He then decides to start a Kids Club - with the help of his grandma - and turn Compupiter into a lively and green planet. Join Tom on his magical journey!
But reading a book is sometimes not enough - we want the kids to get up, grab mom and/or dad, and go outside. Outside the screens. So we created a community where every kid can join the club, by actually doing activities in the physical world.
In order to join the club, the kid needs to do the activities. The kids can then send us pictures of themselves doing the activities, and we will publish it on our website, including their name and the ranks they earned.
What can you get?
Besides helping us making this important movement, you could get wonderful rewards.
To name but a few:
- One or more copies of the printed books
- A cool T-shirt with a "Planet Earth Kids Club" logo on it (available in several sizes)
- The book will contain an illustrated portrait of your child!
Who We Are
We are Einav, Lior and Hagar - the creators of Planet Earth Kids Club. We all feel that it's crucial to educate our kids, on how great technology is, but at the same time, that the world outside the screens has a lot to offer!
Einav Kesher - psychotherapist (M.A. Cognitive Psychology, UCONN, USA), mother of two, and the author of "The tale of an ADHD kid" - which helps kids and parents better understand living with ADHD. Einav's professional point of view and great writing skills will ensure that the right message is conveyed for the kid.
Hagar Wertheim - illustrator and a mom to be. With her refreshing and sensitive illustrations, and her deep understanding of the issue, kids can easily imagine the life on a planet they've never heard of.
Lior Frenkel is the creator of the social project "Undigitize.Me", which is designed to raise our awareness to smartphones and other digital addictions. People from all around the world have participated in Lior's viral campaign, which involves their portrayal in day-to-day activities with their "Phone Faced Down". They took a break from the addictive smartphones, and were proud to do so!
Check out our campaign's website for more details here.
While working on "Undigitize.me", Lior had a dream - spreading the word among kids. That is how we came up with "Planet Earth Kids Club".
Where's the money going?
With your generous help, we will fund the illustrations, design the cover, pay for the professional consulting, editing, book design, and make the appropriate changes to make it look its best for publication.
Then we will print copies for you and more to spread around the world, in preschools and libraries.
Also, your donations will be used to fund our website's hosting and maintenance and the online community we build with it. So kids could join the club and feel that they are a part of a movement.
