Due to being disabled, I needed to find a way to make cheap unique one-of-a-kind nail polishes. I had to have my polish lemmings and if I could not afford them, I decided to DIY them or make something better!
With my husband out of work since October 2011, I had to make my social security money (668/mth for two people to live on is HARD) go further so I studied light sceince, tech, cosmetic chemistry, mineral, pigments and used my knowledge as an artist to make my own polishes.
I will not make or sell toxic chemical soup and no animal testing or tested products are used. I am the guinea pig/lab rat. With my serious and terrible allergies and chemical sensitivities, I test on ME!:)
People seem to like the polishes, especially the linear holos. That oil slick rainbow is amazing! (That one pigment is also 10.00 USD per each gram!!!).
Pixie Polish may literally keep me alive and make others happy too!
All my polishes are guaranteed Big 3 Chemical Free.
My big goal is to provide safe Big three chemical free nail polishes for everyone. I want my polish to be on everyone's fingers and toes, womens, mens, and everyone in between. I believe in beauty, but I believe in it being non-toxic .I am sick, but everyone else doesn't have to be just to be beautiful. If I can leave the world a more beautiful place than it was then when I came into it I've done something great. If my nail polishes just makes a few people smile, it makes my day.
All of the money I would collect goes into making Pixie Polish successful. I would really like to make the world a more beautiful place, make people feel good about themselves, let them just look at their nails and get a real thrill and have people go "Wow" "How does that work" and "What are you wearing"?
I know nail polish seems like a trivial thing to get excited about but it really has helped my own self-esteem whle struggling with cancer and I think I and my creations can help others so I want to be able to give 25% of the profits from Pixie Polish to charities.
I'm not doing it for me I'm doing it for the world. I intend to provide receipts to all contributors and provide incentives such as free polishes and a polish in my line, either un-named and prexisting or chosen and designed by you, to be named for you for contributions.
My personal financial goal is to do what I love and enjoy, making polish to pay the bills, improve my/our quality of life, and someday replace the dangerous Mombus, my 99 Plymouth Grand Voyager with 329,000 miles on it and on it's deathbed, plus afford the constant medical copays and cancer treatment for my Non-Hodgkins lymphoma.
What We Need & What You Get
I need bottle labels (35-40 dollars,) bottles ($25 for acetone to clean recycled bottles, $50 for mini bottles and $200 to purchase Pixie Polish specific bottles), pigment in volume ($275/250ml for the linear holo pigment and 200 for othr mineral pigments, Big 3 polish base ($29/pint), supplies (silicon sheets, quaity business cards (30 dollars), a professional respirator/dust mask (the Hello Kitty face mask/dust mask is just hard to use and fogs up my glasses), a polish display case for vending, a box of nitrile gloves, Etsy store set up, and a graphic designer to unpixelate my logo at full size, plus PR Promo package/kit expenses to market to indie salons and stamps/shipping expenses.
If I do not reach my funding goal I will focus on business cards pigments polished base and setting up an Etsy store, so my established clientele can continue to wear Pixie Polish. I'll be honest, I don't have any other funding sources I am disabled but I have a dream and I have the skills to make Pixie Polish.
