A Pillow For My Dreams...
Help us debut our new Performing Arts Company in July 2014.
ABOUT SIMERSON & CO.
Welcome to Simerson & Co., thank you for checking us out and considering sponsoring the fulfillment of our lifelong dreams!
Our founder, Brian Simerson, has dreamed of creating a company like this since he was 14 years old. After 20 years with MOMIX and, before that, the Erick Hawkins Dance Company, it is time to bring the dream to life! Brian, a distinguished graduate of NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, has selected world-class dancers and musicians, to shape contemporary and classical dance, music, lighting and costume design into an intoxicating live experience. His work has already been hailed as “mesmerizing,” “uniquely stylistic,” “inventive” and “compelling.”
On July 25, 2014, the company’s appearance at Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival marks our official debut. Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival has been heralded as a “hub and mecca of dancing” (TIME Magazine), “one of America's most precious cultural assets” (Mikhail Baryshnikov) and “the dance center of the nation” (The New York Times); resides within a 220- acre National Historic Landmark; has received the National Medal of Arts and mounts America's longest-running international dance festival. Each year, thousands travel to Becket, Massachusetts, from points across the globe, to experience the Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival, and we will be there to perform Brian’s special program, featuring two of his existing audience favorites and three newly choreographed ballets, set to his own musical compositions, as well as, scores by Bach and Philip Glass. Wendy Sutter, the world renowned cellist, has enthusiastically agreed to perform with us for the debut performance. It is an exciting time for us, and we hope that you will join us!
BRIAN SIMERSON, Founder and Artistic Director
As Artistic Director of Simerson & Co., Brian, an accomplished choreographer and composer, as well as designer, draws on his rich interdisciplinary expertise to nurture an ensemble of committed dancers and musicians. The company’s work transcends boundaries, enriching everyone’s ability to not only survive but holistically thrive.
Brian cultivates Renaissance-style artists, immersing them in dance, music, design, composition and direction, to consistently deliver gripping performances of exceptional quality, while embodying the company’s core values of mutual support, respect, collaboration and trust in the work.
SIMERSON & CO.’S PHILOSOPHY
Simerson & Co.'s work incorporates the type of multidisciplinary elements that first took hold during the Renaissance, when prominent artists began to challenge traditional limitations and create three-dimensional perspective. Brian takes this one step further by incorporating the fourth dimension—the audience’s perspective. In addition, Brian also believes in the importance of live music for dance and strives to incorporate this into every performance.
WHO WILL BE WITH US AT THE JACOB'S PILLOW DANCE FESTIVAL
In addition to a world-renowned cast of musicians and dancers, Wendy Sutter, “one of the great leading cellists of the classical stage” (The Wall Street Journal), has enthusiastically agreed to join in the debut performance of Simerson & Co. Ms. Sutter has proven herself as one of the foremost soloists of her generation, widely acclaimed by critics in the New York Times, the Washington Post, the Los Angeles Times, the San Francisco Chronicle and many other publications. Her recording of Philip Glass’ Songs and Poems for solo cello, which was written especially for her, was voted best new CD of the year by listeners of National Public Radio and was the second-best selling CD in the classical division on iTunes. Ms. Sutter will perform a section of this piece, as well as the scores of Bach, Glass and Simerson, live for dance at Simerson & Co.’s debut!
WHY WE NEED YOUR HELP
There is no ticket revenue for our performance at the Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival, as it is free and open to the public. This is why we need your support of our debut performance!

Together, we will create bonds between audiences and performers, artists and students and the people who believe that art transcends boundaries. This connection helps us understand ourselves, each other, the world around us and our place in it.
It is with deep gratitude that Brian and the company thank each of you for making all this
happen. You are at the starting line of our exciting global journey, and we could not be happier
to have you along for the ride!
