PICASSO'S WOMEN: THE DARKER SIDE OF GENIUS is a fascinating and educated look into the private lives of the celebrated and mysterious art icon Pablo Picasso, and the women that were at some point caught in the devastating tornado of loving him.
The play provides an entirely new perspective and understanding of Picasso, his art, and inspirations to those who might be unaware of the intricate, delicate, and often times complicated inner workings of his personal life.
More specifically, this play focuses on six women who's stories are overlooked by a world obsessed with an icon it praised nearly to the point of deification; a world that never saw him as the man he really was, a world that never knew the women he trampled.
"I want you to tell your stories, Don't you see? We could tell the truth, show the world what Picasso was really lIke, what he did to us. We could call it Picasso's Women, or something similar. You could say whatever you wanted to. Most people think of us as temporary helpers, insignificant muses, disposable models and sex slaves for him; and each of us ready to stab the one before so we could occupy that position. And so we've always been at each other's throats. Now we don't have to be. Now we can redefine ourselves- and him." FRANCOISE GILOT - PICASSO'S WOMAN: THE DARKER SIDE OF GENIUS
Ball Point Productions is also creating a "Making of Picasso's Women" documentary to give back to the people that contribute a minimum of 20 dollars to this amazing endeavor, as well as to add a bit of permanence to this theatrical portrayal of history as the world deserves to have it and in honor of these incredible women that inspired and possessed Picasso as much as he inspired and possessed them.
And further, those (in the US) who contribute 25 dollars or more will receive, along with the "Making of Documentary," a Recorded Performance of the Entire Play.*
