Update 08-27-13 Our funding goal has been met, but please continue to contribute. This goal was set over a month ago and since then the price of airline tickets to Tucson has increased. While we anticipated an increase in prices, we would like to send these artists back to the Bay with some money! Everything we make over the goal goes directly to the artists to help fund future projects. Help fund queer artists!
Fluxx Fest is a queer arts festival in Tucson, AZ. For its inaugural year, Fluxx Fest hopes to see Persia and DADDIE$ PLA$TIK grace the stage. After seeing Persia & DADDIE$ PLA$TIK perform "Google Google Apps Apps" at the Save Esta Noche benefit in San Francisco, one Fluxx intern knew that these performers were perfect for Fluxx Fest. Their strong message, mixed with a catchy and danceable hook was exactly what the festival was looking for. Since Fluxx Fest is in Tucson, AZ, while DADDIE$ PLA$TIK and Persia reside in the Bay Area, travel costs could keep the performers from making their way to the Fluxx Fest stage. All proceeds go directly to the travel and lodging expenses associated with the performers' journey. Remaining funds will be given to the artists to help with future projects.
"What else can I say about this video? It’s hilarious, it’s obscene, and it’s poignant. Though thousands more words are sure to be spent explaining and opining on the housing crisis in the Bay Area, perhaps none will do so more successfully or succinctly than 'Moving to the East Bay/Living life the broke way/SF keep your money/F*** your money!'" - Nia King; Activist, Writer, Producer
"See how it wakes you up and washes away the nausea faster than a punch in the face followed by a Percocet and a Bloody Mary?" - Manhunt Daily
"An obscenely hilarious take on Bay Area gentrification" - Colorlines.com
". . . this is pretty much an instant classic in the genre of anti-S.F.-gentrification songs." - SFWeekly.com
