Help us pay for our dog's surgery!
This is our dog, Lord Odin Stormjaws. We adopted him from a mastiff rescue foundation in fall of 2010 and he's been with us ever since.
Last year, he started limping. Our vet diagnosed Odin with a rupture or tear of the cranial cruciate ligament (the canine equivalent of the ACL). While medication could help with pain, the only permanent treatment was a TPLO surgery.
Since we were already both looking for full time work, we put it off for as long as possible. But this month, we hit the crisis point. Odin was no longer able to run, to play with other dogs at the park, not even to go for walks. It was either get the surgery or put our two year old dog down.
We got the surgery.
Already Odin is happier, healthier, and shows every sign that he'll be able to enjoy his newly reconstructed knee for the rest of his life. But now we're asking for your help in paying our vet back.
What We Need
We need to raise $5000.
- Our initial visit to the vet for exam, x-rays, and pain medication was $466.
- The surgery, immediate follow-up care, fluids, antibiotics, pain medications, and other drugs came to $3750.
That means we've already spent $4216.
- We are looking at between two to three more follow ups, each of which will require a new set of x-rays. The x-rays will cost approximately $132 per visit, the exam fee is $75.
- Three more months of anti-inflammatory medication comes to $169.80.
That alone comes to $780.80, bringing out total estimated out of pocket to $4996.80
What you get
Every dollar you contribute will help us immensely. Even if we don't raise the full amount, paying as much as we can as soon as we can will save us on interest, and will clear that money from our credit should there be any complications or additional treatment required.
For every donation of $25 and above, we'll send you a personalized postcard from us and from Odin, thanking you for helping him get back on his feet – literally!
Even if you can't contribute, please let others know and send them our way. A few dollars from a lot of friends will add up quickly.
Thanks so much for your time. Have a great day!
