We're in this together! Learn more: www.ThePI.org/Donate.
Bill Draper, Tim Draper, Polly Draper, Jesse Draper, Becky Draper, and the entire Draper family, want YOU to get your Indiegogo on.
Between now and Friday, February 28, 2014, you'll get to know the Parkinson's Institute and Clinical Center, and the impact of your contributions, through the personal Parkinson's journey of each generation of the Draper family. We know all too well that when a loved one is living with Parkinson’s disease, the entire family is living with Parkinson’s. Our story is told most meaningfully and powerfully through the personal journeys of our Parkinson’s Institute partners and their families—like Bill, Tim, Polly, Jesse, Becky, their family—and yours. We recognize and celebrate the Draper family’s courage. And, we asked them to share their story with the world. Together, we hope to inspire and motivate other families touched by Parkinson's disease and unleash a very personal call to action.
Caring for people with a disease as complex as Parkinson's does not fit neatly into today's healthcare economics.
It takes much more than an assembly line approach and a 15 minute consultation to provide appropriate and impactful care. Your contributions ensure that at the Parkinson's Institute and Clinical Center no sacrifice is made and no corner is cut.
How quickly do we want access to new and better treatments? How badly do we crave discoveries that one day, hopefully, will lead us to a cure?
Government and foundation research grants only cover a modest portion of the expenses associated with the remarkable science conducted at the Parkinson's Institute and Clinical Center. Philanthropy drives the pace at which our Laboratory and Clinical Researchers are able to pursue their work.
We bring together the brightest minds, the most competent hands, and the most compassionate hearts to provide the best Parkinson's disease care anywhere.
Two and a half decades ago a dedicated group of Parkinson's disease experts set out to create a better way to research and provide care for Parkinson's.
We would go beyond your standard doctor-patient
relationship. Patients would become partners in developing their care
plans, improving their quality of life, and discovering new strategies
to confront and manage their disease. Compassionate care would work hand
in hand with cutting-edge research to seek answers, develop new
therapies and treatments, and ultimately work toward a cure.
Our result was the Parkinson's Institute and Clinical Center. Along the way, we have built something that's thoroughly unique. Our Institute is a place where people living with Parkinson's can both pursue their care and play an important role in research that will undoubtedly continue to change the landscape of Parkinson's science and medicine. We've already made some giant leaps, but our work is far from finished.
We are America's only independent non-profit
organization combining world-class care, laboratory research, and
clinical research for Parkinson's disease under one roof. By virtue of
our design, we are uniquely equipped to provide the very best care, accelerate promising science, and perhaps most important—integrate the two and everything in between. It's what we now call Our Virtuous Circle and you are at the center of all that we do.
Return on InvestmentOnly because of generous contributions from people like you were we able to accomplish the following last year: raise over $4.6 million in mission critical core funding; partner with nearly 3,000 people living with Parkinson's disease and their families to provide them with world-class and compassionate care; conduct 28 clinical trials helping to advance new treatments and better therapies; provide 400 unique learning opportunities, educational programs, and exercise classes at no or very low cost for people living with Parkinson's and their loved ones; and leverage and supplement 13 new research grants attracted by our best and brightest minds allowing the pursuit of promising science.
