Who We are

Longmont Council for the Arts believes art enhances the quality of life. Every day, we inspire creativity for our artists, students and patrons because art e.nables us to see the world in a different way. Since 1985 we have been working to enhance the arts in Longmont for the community and support our artists so they can be artists. As part of the Longmont Arts & Entertainment District, we are working to unify, enhance and promote the arts within downtown.

This project of blank breezeway walls inspired both artists and organizations to make a creative statement of the impact of the arts in Longmont. By bringing together a group of local artists with the Longmont Council for the Arts and the Longmont Downtown Development Authority to brainstorm possible artistic additions to the breezeway and the entire downtown district the concept of an outdoor art gallery emerged. This outdoor gallery will be a mix of the dynamic and enduring, the past and the future.  The top portion of the walls will be its focal point, featuring a permanent mural by Gamma Acosta telling Longmont's Story.  Artist Cynthia Marsh will collaborate with Gamma to create 3-D figures on the lower part of the wall that will draw people in to the Breezeway.

Why we need you help

We have been offered a matching grant of $5,000 once we raise $5,000.  We are well on our way and need $1,500 to help bring us to that goal.

It has been very exciting to see this project develop and our great artists who helped design it. The money raised will help pay a portion of the artist stipend to create the mural.

Longmont's Story

The Community -past, present & future - is the inspiration for the mural.  To tell Longmont's Story through the eyes of the artists. The people, places and quirky stories that make our town and its history memorable.  Art is important to a community’s identity and quality of life.  By creating a permanent outdoor gallery, we are providing more opportunities for our artists to increase their stability and enhance our community.
