Then This Project Is For You!
Who We Are and What We Are Doing
Oregano & Hidden Line is the combined effort of two incredibly talented sisters. Over the week of September 30th to October 5th, Rose and Luisa Napoli will come together to workshop and present an art experience inspired by their father.
As an embrace of their shared history and each other’s artistic expression, Rose’s new play, Oregano, will be professionally workshopped and presented to the public all the while being surrounded by Luisa’s mixed media exhibit, Hidden Line.
The workshopping of Oregano will culminate in three public presentations (Oct. 3rd - 5th), followed by talkback sessions in which the general public is invited to offer feedback and constructive criticism.
Luisa’s mixed media exhibit, Hidden Line, will be on display prior to, and throughout, the public readings of Oregano. Luisa will be on hand to receive feedback and discuss the many aspects of her work.
Getting Youth Involved
Rose, Luisa and director, Elana Post, will lead classes with a focus on literacy, including Creative Writing, Visual Arts, and Dramatization (finding character, mood, theme, and perspective). The classes will be held October 3rd and 4th and be offered to elementary and secondary school students of Norfolk County. These classes are an important part of Oregano & Hidden Line, giving students a unique, behind-the-scenes look at this innovative arts project, while facilitating one on one contact with the artists themselves.
Where It's All Happening
Oregano & Hidden Line will take place at the Old Town Hall in Waterford, Ontario. The Old Town Hall Association is comprised of a group of extremely dedicated volunteers. They are working to continue the preservation of this beautiful, historical building, and to enhance community life and the cultural lives of Waterford and area people by providing a diverse range of arts and culture events. The Old Town Hall is a registered charity. Please visit www.oldtownhall.org.

- Rose Napoli Playwright
“Rose is not just an actress. I was impressed by (Oregano)'s originality and sensitivity. I know her to be a builder, not just of roles but plays.” David S. Craig, Playwright
- Luisa Napoli Visual Artist
“Luisa Napoli’s work is personal, mined emotion from a life fully lived, her life, your life, mine. Dandelions gone to seed, titled "To have one day more", comes from melancholia and peacefulness. The fetal-like curl of a nude, flesh and shades of mauve, speaks of both longing and contentment. Laughter and tears that sustain us.” Sandra Peltier, Art Collector

Why Are We Doing This?
Oregano & Hidden Line is the first show of its kind in Norfolk County and surrounding area.
Oregano is Rose Napoli’s first solo work as a playwright.
Hidden Line marks Luisa Napoli’s first solo art exhibit.
Most importantly, Oregano & Hidden Line celebrates Rose and Luisa’s father.
What We Are Asking and the Difference Your Contribution Will Make
With your help, we will:
- make this theatre/visual arts experience financially accessible to EVERYONE by selling tickets at a very low price, and by offering creative art classes to schools free of charge - that’s right, FREE OF CHARGE
- be able to bring professional artists to our rural area and have them share their expertise and passion, while giving them a forum to further grow and develop their skills
Your contribution will go toward:
employing nine professional artists (Luisa and Rose Napoli, 3 actors, 1 composer, 1 director, 1 stage manager, 1 lighting designer)
rental of lighting equipment
rental and purchase of materials needed to display several mixed media pieces - including a sculpture that is to be suspended from the ceiling!
printing of scripts, posters, and programs
advertising, advertising, advertising, promotion, promotion, promotion!
We, at the Old Town Hall, know a thing or two about pinching pennies and we have come up with a shoestring budget to rival all others.
Our campaign goal of $2500, will cover one quarter of the costs involved with producing Oregano & Hidden Line. Please give what you can, even if we are past our goal. A small amount can make a big difference. As touched on above, our hopes are to raise enough funds to lower our ticket prices and offer our creative arts classes to students free of charge. Our ultimate goal is to create a theatre/visual arts experience that is of the highest quality, yet is completely accessible to people of all ages and all walks of life.
