Hi! My name's Peter, and welcome to the fundraising campaign for my upcoming short film NULLVOID. The film is an experimental piece about how people can sometimes feel empty and then end up blocking themselves from the world and others. It's about introversion, quiet moments, and above all, the need to connect with someone, even if there's something stopping you from doing so.
But forget about all those themes; you'd probably rather know what actually happens. In the movie, a computer scientist is trying to figure out the nature of life through a digital program. While he is working on the project, he inadvertently creates a mini-universe within his computer, allowing him to travel back and forth between reality and this digital realm. Now he must find out what's going on with the machine... and also with himself.
What We Need & What You Get
So what exactly am I asking for? $1,500. I know it's a lot, but unfortunately I have to cover the cost of equipment, food, transportation, and all the other hassles that go into making a movie. Most important, however, is the look of the computer program and the digital world. Much of the budget will also be spent on art, visual effects, and costumes to make the world of NULLVOID real and believable. I am producing the film for my Junior project at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts, and while we receive a small allotment from them, we must seek the majority of our funds from wonderful people like you. Any donation will be much appreciated, even if it's just a dollar. If you don't have money to donate, I would even love to hear your words of encouragement, because that alone is helpful in make this vision come true.
This project is important to me, because I believe everyone has experienced moments when they feel like they are cut off from everybody else. It's a pretty scary feeling, but it's moments like these that make me appreciate the people who are in my life. I hope that I have been there for you, enough so that you will donate to my film. And if I haven't, then that kinda sucks, and we should definitely hang out some time! It is also my hope that the film can have a life beyond sharing it with you and the school, and that we can put it out into the world through online platforms, film forums, and maybe even festivals!
Other Ways You Can Help
If you can't contribute, that's okay. You can still help by spreading the word to anybody you know who may be interested in the project and able to help out. And as always, support and encouragement is invaluable!
