As Noteworthy, for my music to be promoted abroad, as it is while working to fight cancer in Canada.
Hey there, friends, fans and family; and dare I say potential new fans of my music, story and journey, Sean here. Okay I am finally launching this on behalf of my record label Barnstorm Productions Ltd . (which honestly is on behalf of me). It's about funding this 2 album collection of my best music, Volume Sun and Volume Moon, and getting it out to the world at large via promotion & peforming beyond Canada's borders. Speaking of borders ya know I actually had my U.S. work visa expire when I was in treatment for stage 4 cancer. Things were getting pretty exciting when all hell broke loose with my health shortly after wrapping up the recording process of my 6th album, then being lost for a while there. What's that you say... you had what?! No go ahead, everyone raises their eyebrows there...
After being on the fence for a little while about a launch and thoroughly thinking about it for several months, I feel it's time to move forward. Protracted set backs in moving forward are down right the worst in my books. See, I wondered if people would think hey you were a great artist then you got sick, but hey, you survived so leave it there, you still sing and hell better than ever too, and for a living (though the set back set me way back.. but enough is enough, time to move forward) Some have said well since you went into debt surviving a near death illness (in my case anyway, stage 4 cancer, oralpharyngeal squam cell carcinoma),...and not working for nearly a year immediately, after investing in my 6th studio album Phoenix), go do something else.
Though I was and still am the bread winner and making music, one day at a time, one week at time treading water one month after another, continues,..after all I've been through, the ultimate question is, can it work through "thick and thin"?. Time, energy and investment was lost, but I needed to get well and show it wasn't just a temporary remission, no remission here, I was cured, and experts say with this cancer after 3 years you're "out of the woods", and "I'm okay".. So now can I keep doing what I do best?
I say yes I can, but I could sure do a world more of good, with your support to embark and pick up where I had to leave off.
This project is about putting the very best of,.. yes "Noteworthy" music I've written and recorded, out to the rest of the world, music I've had luck with and making a couple of concise discs, to take to the rest of the world. Taking this Best Of package out there! Can I get an "amen"?!!!, Out across the globe, and not simply playing Canada alone any longer. Playing for people who love a great voice with a great song, and I believe I have a great story to share too. I wish to continue to live the artist's life, after clawing back from what is commonly called Stage 4 cancer and getting a chance at continuance & cancer free while helping others facing that battle. SO this is about prevailing over the struggle, recovery of spirit and recovery of purpose as a singer/songwriter, and yes in good health and making enough to carry on with a plan and faith from those around me who support me. Believers in my skill, talent and output of good works, even enough to beyond this project, move forward, and as a result of this project to record new music and carry on with my future once this Best Of collection goes out to the world. What Is Needed & What You Get! :)
I have not done a Crowd Funded project before, but before you say oh well then, please know I have had some major goals and happily to a large extent, as a singer/songwriter & performing recording artist, I have achieved them and my career is evidence of that. At this point I would like to point out that for those interested to know if I have done any giving back, besides my music to consider the following in 2004, I started an annual Canadian Country Christmas charity tour, yes nearly a dozen years ago now, and we have raised tens of thousands of dollars for various groups since then. In fact nearly $150,000. for various service groups, hospital foundations, long term care facilities, cancer drug reserach campaigns, food banks and more since. In this project, I am electing to use the flex program, just in case my target amount of 17,000, isn't fully achieved. I will do as much as I can with the same breakdown of every ten dollars that comes into the project. So this equates to 60% going to promoting the albums ( AROUND THE WORLD that's not cheap), 30% going to creating and manufacturing the project, and 10% going to a separate initiative to raise Canadian Cancer Society funds regardless. As a cancer survivor I meet people who have fought the disease, people who are fighting, and "survivors", and those who have sadly lost the fight, but indeed I hear many stories and I am uniquely skilled to give back and beyond the fact that I take part in Relay For Life annualy, I am involved with other private cancer patient fighter benefits, as a performer. On some level, cancer is a metaphor for hardship and near defeat, being down in the 11th hour, the human spirit sometimes gets a 2nd wind a second chance, and overcoming and picking up and moving on is this challenge. I wish to make this a moment an opportunity to give back in more significant ways. I believe this is Noteworthy I have the energy check my website I play every week somewhere but I know in my heart of hearts my music can do more good than ever before. Will you join me?
