Not Just Bagels Needs Your Help

Help a small family owned business recover from Hurricane Sandy.

Not Just Bagels Needs Your Help

My fiancé and I opened Not Just Bagels 9 years ago, and we've poured our heart and soul into our small business ever since. What set us apart from every other bagel store was the environment that was provided to the customer. It was the type of place where we knew all of our customers by name and knew exactly what they ate and how they took their coffee, without question. We are a part of the community and nothing brings me more joy then seeing people with smiles on their faces and every belly FULL. People loved our specialty bagels. The French toast bagel, Cannoli bagel and the Bacon Egg & Cheese bagel with actual bacon, egg, and cheese baked into it were our best sellers. :) The Daily News voted us Staten Island's best bagel!

After Hurricane Sandy hit, we were left completely destroyed. Even after the storm had passed and the floodwater receded, the store sat completely submerged in seawater and sewage for 2 additional days while crewmembers worked to pump out the remaining water that was now confined to that area. Although we have natural disaster coverage, our insurance company will not help us get back on our feet because they claim that flood damage releases them from any responsibility. There is no FEMA for businesses and taking out a loan is not an option at this time. Until we found out about Indiegogo, we were sure that our doors would stay closed for good. Indiegogo has given us an opportunity to rebuild, restore, and recover from this traumatic event.

Your donation can help us rebuild a small piece of the fabric within Staten Island's local community. Help support our small family of 3 and get our staff of 8 full time and 7 part time employees back to work. Our doors remain closed and anything you contribute helps us get closer to opening those doors to providing our community with the best bagels around!

What We Need & What You Get

We need at least $25,000 to get back to square one, providing us just enough to open our doors, get dough in the oven, and start spreading the love again.

Other Ways To Help

If you are unable to contribute financially, you can still help! If you could share my campaign with friends, family, coworkers, and through social media like Facebook and Twitter, It would be greatly appreciated.

The Impact

You can help a small family rebuild their business, and ensure that 15 loyal employees get back to work so that they can again provide for their families. Most of all you can help Staten Island take one more step towards recovery.
