About us

We love film. And though we work in the advertising film production industry we still can't get enough - especially when it comes to storytelling. Telling stories in 30-60 seconds is just not the same as shooting short films or even features. But who are we?

We are Stonehope Pictures. A two person company privately founded in 2010 to do exactly what was just explained. The two persons are Alexander de Lukowicz, freelance videographer, writer, director and editor and Alexander Steinhoff, writer, director and full time producer in the ad industry since 12 years. We consider ourselves filmmakers.

About the project

(Music in the campaign video is from freemusicarchive.org: et_ "Kopaika")

Our film "Noch Einmal Schön" is what we call a short apocalyptic roaddrama. Here's a short synopsis or maybe a long logline of what you can expect:

A group of survivors of a lethal virus outbreak face the decision either to continue looking for shelter or to have it nice for one last time.

"Noch Einmal Schön" verbally translated would be something like "beautiful one last time".

One part of why we wanna do this so badly is that a genre film like this still is pretty uncommon in Germany, which is mostly dominated by social dramas and comedy films.

So you can actually help us trying to make genre films become more recognizable and popular in Germany and possibly be part of a small step on the road to a new thinking about this in the eyes and brains of studio executives in Germany.

Even if originally we wanted to shoot this in English language, we decided it would support the idea of pushing genre films in Germany even better, if this was done in German language. Of course there'll be a subtitled version for our international supporters.

We'll be filming this with a very limited crew, but with a great cast that we're short before signing. We'll post an update once the signatures are written under the contracts and will then present the cast here.

Here's the crew that is confirmed already:

Alexander de Lukowicz (www.stonehope.com) - Writer, Director, Producer
Alexander Steinhoff (www.stonehope.com) - Writer, Director, Producer
Neels Feil (www.neelsfeil.com) - DoP
Jan Singelmann (www.imdb.com/name/nm4575352/) - 1st AC
Eddy Dregis (www.imdb.com/name/nm4573152/) - Key Grip
Christoph Bock (no webpage) - Sound
Diana Ramovic (www.imdb.com/name/nm4575835/) - Make Up

We will be aiming for a very cinematic look, we hope you like our first short "The House On Arch Lane" and trust us to make "Noch einmal schön" as beautiful a piece.

You can watch "The House On Arch Lane" here
or in this Indiegogo project page's gallery.

Where is it gonna happen?

We're gonna be filming this in the direct surrounding of Hamburg. For all of you who don't know exactly how to expect that to look, here are some first location images:

What We Need & What You Get

When you decide to trust us and give us some of your money to realise this film, you'll not only get the perks you'll find in the right column of this page, you'll as well get the good feeling to have helped us finance the following positions in our production budget:

- We'd like to insure the cast & crew: app. 500,- US$
- Reimburse cast & crew for their phone bills, parking fees & gas: app. 500,- US$
- Catering for two shooting days, drinks & food: app. 450,- US$
- Buying some of the key props (lantern, rotten food etc.): app. 340,- US$
- Paypal and currency conversion fees: app. 130,- US$
- 4% Indiegogo fee: app. 80,- US$

Sums up to a total of 2.000,- US$

If there would even be a chance to get funded a slightly bigger amount, we'd like to invest into:

- Professional color correction aside from what After Effects offers: app. 2.300,- US$
- Choosing to shoot with the ALEXA instead of Canon 5D: app. 2.000,- US$

Whatever else we can get on top of the amounts mentioned we would love to try and pay the crew back. At least partially, if we can.
