The Idea

After travelling through a large proportion of Europe, filmmaker Mikey Oldfield started developing an idea for a story. Bulgaria was the landscape that caught his imagination, with vast wilderness, long valleys and awesome mountains. The story is simple: two brothers decide to take their motorcycles on a journey through these mountains. But brotherhood is a condition you have to work at, so these two brothers battle it out in an adventure of life.

Our Crew

The crew is a fantastic team, each with real talent in their respective areas. The crew works very well together, efficiently.

What we want YOU for

The short film (10mins) has been in pre-production for three months and production will start in March 2013. As the script is being developed, cast being headhunted and planning underway, we need to raise the carefully-planned budget. The budget is £5,000 ($8,000) which is broken down like this:

  • £2,500 for production and equipment costs (camera equipment, motorcycles, eg.)
  • £1,500 for cast and crew expenses.
  • £1,000 for post-production, publicity and festival expenses.

The timeline

2013 will be a busy year for the production of My Father's Son. The last few months have seen a large part of pre-production completed (concept, treatment, location scouting, pilot). The cast and crew will be flying out to Bulgaria in March, where production will last for ten days. Post-production editing will take the next six weeks. Then mid-May will see the start of publicity and marketing and will start featuring in film festivals and cinemas by the height of summer.
