My father, my hero

I am trying very hard to help my father keep his health insurance. He has a rare form of cancer and desperately needs help with the payments.

Hi,

my name is Lauren Wright. My father Ed Wright is the father of 5 children, 2 step children, and the grandfather of 2 children as well as a devoted husband. He is an amazing man. He loves to climb mountians and fly small airplanes and power parachutes. He lives on a small farm in Bloomfield NY and really enjoys the quiet country setting.  Several years ago he was admitted into the Emergencey Room with severe shoulder pain. An x-ray revealed a tumor the size of a soft ball. A rare cancer called Thymoma. He had an operation to remove the tumor and with it, half of his lung, but even the best surgeon can't remove every cell of cancer. In the tumor's place now sits 7 small tumors. He has undergone chemotherapy, radiation, and countless drug trials. These medications have wreaked havok on his body and even his mind but he has yet to complain. The medication he was most recently on seemes to have stopped working, as the tumors have started to grow again. Soon after we found the first effective treatment though, my dad lost his job as a software engineer for a small company and he can't find another job in his field anywhere in New York State.

He lost his job as a result of the economy and with it, went his health insurance coverage. His tumors are starting to grow and change shape causing him severe pain. These tumors are located  between his heart and his bronchial tube so letting them grow is not an option. I am raising money to pay for his health insurance which is $500 every month. Unfortunatly the treatments cost several thousand dollars each, and the hospital with the expiremental drugs, is eight hours drive each way, in Bethesda Md. If I can raise enough money for three months of insurance, that would give my father 12 whole weeks to find another job and aquire some health insurance.

Any help, even the smallest donation, could help save my fathers life. If he needs to pause his treatment for any length of time, who knows how long it would take to find another drug trial that could keep his tumors from growing. The Doctors do not think that another surgery is an option.

I know some people are not in a financial position to donate in this economic hardship so if you're unable to donate, please pass this on! Facebook, twitter, email, any way you can get it out. Every person who sees this means more people who may be in a position to help!
