Who is Multicultural Sonic Evolution (MuSE)?

We are MuSE, a non-profit organization co-directed by composer Yui Kitamura and percussionist Chihiro Shibayama. (Click our names to learn more about ourselves individually) Each season we produce unique showcases that provide talented artists who embrace musical elements in their work with a platform for sharing their craft. Our collaborators include dancers, film makers, animators, writers, fashion and hair stylists, and so on.

To this date, we have produced 1 full-musical production, 2 musical theater cabarets, 6 classical chamber music concerts, 2 kimono shows, 1 multimedia, 2 dance concert, 1 Jazz/holiday concert, 1 poplar/folk music concert and 4 salon concerts in New York tri- state area and New Jersey.

The MuSE logo is a tri-colored asterism (* this symbol) , and each of its asterisks represents one of the core values of the organization: red stands for passion, blue for trust, and green for dreams. MuSE’s goal is to bring these values to bear at the crossroads where various traditions and disciplines meet. The result promises to be one that draws on the past to create a bright and promising future.

What’s “Sounds of Arts Festival (SOAF)”?

We had our first “Sounds of Arts Festival 2011” in November 2011. We had wanted to create a multidisciplinary show that combined elements of film, dance, fashion and music.  If all of these artforms were infused with music, what would that sound like?  It was through this creative process that the "Sounds of Arts Festival" was born.  We now have an opportunity to build on the success of the first show by presenting the "Sounds of Arts Festival 2012": a five-day-long event showcasing five different programs, including the world premiere of many exciting works that will bring together the artistic talents of over 40 artists in the realms of film, dance, and musical theater.
