Hello Good People! We are #MPLS, a funk/soul band from the Twin Cities. Some of you may recognize or remember us as “The BoomBox”, having performed for years around the Twin Cities as a backing band and popular cover band. During our tenure as Wednesday night house band at the legendary Bunkers Music Bar & Grill, we began creating our own material and made the decision to step away from covers and be our own artist.
Right now, we’re working on our debut album entitled, Hello. It’s definitely a feel good album; we like to call it “Everyday, Any day music, meaning that you’ll enjoy listening no matter if you’re cleaning, working, working out, driving, cooking, or just chillin’. We’ve taken elements of the world renowned ‘Minneapolis Sound’, and fused them with elements of today’s Hip-Pop culture.
Successful completion of this project will the first step in realizing the dreams of the band, both collectively and individually, to bring forth a positivity to the type and quality of music being presented by our generation
set a goal of $5,000. However, we do not want you to think that we are relying soley on your contribution. We have worked hard and will continue to do so to raise funds for this project. Your contribution is still very much so helpful and will help us take this to the next level. Take
a look at the Perks for your contribution.
What we hope to offer you with this album is great music. We’ve poured ourselves into this album, into the writing and development of each piece of music. We recorded the entire project at Waterbury Studios in Minneapolis, MN and our vocal coach, Ametria Dock (India Arie) and the album’s executive producer Stokley Williams (Mint Condition) were with us every step of the way, pushing us and making sure we deliver something great. However, making a great album has other components that are just as important as the music. The post-production, mixing and mastering, marketing and promotions all play an integral part. With your contribution, we can achieve our goals and deliver the best product possible.
And, yes, we know that many other musicians have been asking for your contributions. We believe in our project and ourselves. We believe that we have distinguished ourselves in the all the preparation including the development of an actual business plan (with the assistance of community leaders) to support not only this completion of this product but the future outreach of the finished product and the band's message as well.
If you’re not able to give money, there are still ways you can help us. By spreading the word. Social networks such, as Facebook and Twitter are great tools to get the word moving around. Please share our campaign with some friends who you feel may be interested, not only just in giving, but enjoying our music one day also.
