UPDATE!

We have officially signed a new lease on an amazing location at 2275 Market St in the Castro!

Please be a part of helping build-out our new office space so we can provide more low-cost services to our community members in need!

You can help our community heal and thrive!

Whether it’s eating out with our significant other or just walking down the street by ourselves, queer people deserve to feel safe, seen and understood in all aspects of our lives.  In order for us feel part of the community, we need to be treated as such.  This is especially true for queer people in need of mental health and substance abuse care.  Research shows that LGBTQQI communities suffer higher rates of suicidality, trauma, depression, and anxiety because of repeated exposure to psychosocial stressors ranging from mild to violent.  Many local organizations serving our community have closed due to steep cuts in city and state funding.  These cuts have left a dangerous void in vital mental health and substance abuse services.

You and Queer LifeSpace can do something about this

In July 2011, we four therapists, with the help of family and friends, combined resources and expertise to open a new mental health and substance abuse agency serving the Bay Area.  Our vision is to create a sustainable model for LGBTQQI mental health and substance abuse care that can be replicated in any city in the U.S. This model will train the next generation of queer therapists as they go on to serve our community.  It will provide quality, low-cost care from clinicians trained in the unique and diverse needs of our communities, creating places where every queer person can feel safe, be seen and understood.

For more than a year, Queer LifeSpace has been operating with an all volunteer staff and board of over 25 people on a shoestring budget and we have served 240 clients to date.  With your help, Queer LifeSpace can do much more.

We have an immediate fundraising goal of $60,000 to cover moving and construction costs associated with an unexpected need to relocate and to build an even more expansive agency in our new location. This video campaign seeks to raise $15,000 towards that. Let's move some queers!!

How you can help

With your support we can nearly DOUBLE the amount of LGBTQQI people we serve!
Your donation can help us in so many ways.  With your assistance we can expand our capacity to help our community members live healthier and more productive lives as well as continue to serve as a training ground for the next generation of queer-informed therapists who may end up practicing in your town. You can be a part of strengthening the LGBTQQI community now and for the future.

Together we are creating a greater “us” by serving the parts of our communities that are most vulnerable.  Our proud and vibrant community needs us.

All donations to the Queer LifeSpace are tax deductible (tax ID #45-245-1077)
