What We're Doing

Help us get a group of individuals who have lost their moms to suicide to Washington D.C. to attend one of the nation's largest suicide awareness events: The Out of the Darkness Overnight Walk.

How You Can Help

We have assembled a team of people from all over the country who have lost their mothers to suicide. Your contribution will help them get to the Overnight and succeed when they get there!

First we'll use these funds to purchase air travel and lodging for our team members who need help getting to DC. Then we'll distribute the remainder among Mom Squad's Overnight Walk team members, helping everyone reach at least $1,000 (the minimum fundraising goal required to take part in the event).

All of the money raised in the Overnight goes to support the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. That means it will support everything from awareness campaigns to crisis outreach to mental health research.

To thank you for contributing we have five amazing perks: a small framed photo of our team at the Overnight Walk, a Mom Squad Superhero t-shirt, a video compiliation of the event, a Mom Squad Superhero sweatshirt and a large framed artisitic photo displaying the Mom Squad Superhero cape and other swag.

How You're Helping

Many people who lose loved ones to suicide isolated, embarrassed or ashamed to talk about it. We bring together those who have lost mothers to suicide and help them see that there are others who understand their experience and that it is possible to turn their pain into something positive and productive.

We hope that by uniting this unique group of people we will reduce the amount of suicides in future generations and create something beautiful and positive in reaction to and in memory of our mothers' lives.

If you can't contribute there are other ways to help. Starting by "liking" our facebook page at www.facebook.com/momsquaders. Follow us on Twitter @MomSquaders. Or visit our website at www.WeAreMomSquad.org

The most important thing you can do spread the word. Many people don't tell even their closest friends about their mother's suicide. You may have someone in your life who desperately needs a community of hope, so tell everyone you know.

Also, memorize this number in case you or someone you know is contemplating suicide 1-800-247-TALK.
