What We’re Trying To Do

This project is an independent music video produced for Miami based DJ, Mence, by Emerson College film production majors, Daniel Sanjur, Alex Lamburini and Dylan Greiss.

This music video will turn the average pool party concept on its head. We literally want to take the pool party into the pool - lounge chairs, the DJ stand, drinks, balloons, even the partygoers will go along for the ride of their lives, as they are both submerged underwater and captivated by great beats!

We're going to allow the audience to experience a pool party unfold entirely underwater. This music video puts a spin on the average pool party idea by utilizing the beat of the music to dictate its story. Mence's song, "Enrapture", features euphoric beats which align perfectly with an underwater rave-like atmosphere.

This video provides the unique experience of underwater filming, underwater lighting and challenging production design.

The music video will be shot on the RED Scarlet in an underwater housing. Shooting commences July 27th-28th in Long Island, NY.  

 

The Story

In this music video, we travel through a pool party, highlighting the romantic tale of Mark’s endeavor to meet up with Michelle, a girl who caught his eye from across the party. Upon first seeing Michelle, Mark instantly falls in love and makes it his mission to meet her. Unfortunately for Mark, the party has other plans.

Mark is faced with unbelievable obstacles when he discovers that the entire party has disappeared - the outdoor furniture, the DJ and his stand, even the partygoers are all gone! There is nothing but the faint sound of music coming from inside the pool itself. Mark dips his head underwater to find that there is an entire world down there - the party has literally migrated from the pool area to inside the pool. 


As Mark marvels at his discovery, Michelle pops up out of the water and pulls Mark in. Michelle then swims away, playing hard to get. The two then engage in a game of cat and mouse as they swim through the euphoric, rave-like atmosphere of an underwater party. They swim through plant-life, glowing lights, furniture and other partygoers until they finally meet up at the conclusion of the song.

What We Need & Where it Goes

We are hoping to raise $6,600 for our underwater adventure.

The money will go towards:

- An underwater housing to keep our camera dry!    

- Lights to make our image clear and to help bring the rave-like atmosphere to life.

- Props and set dressings that we can literally submerge in water. We're submerging lounge chairs, balloons even a DJ turntable and stand!

- Insurance for our cast, crew and production.    

- Funds for transportation and food so we can get our crew to the set and keep them happy while they're there!

We chose to make this project for Mence because he is incredibly talented and hasn't received the recognition that he deserves. The Crew

Director / Producer - Daniel Sanjur

Daniel Sanjur is a director/producer from Miami studying Film Production and Business at Emerson College. He has served as a crew member on multiple short films, music videos, commercials, and TV shows in Miami and Boston. He recently finished directing a music video for Boston based band, Royale's song "Don't You Know" and is set to direct Miami based DJ, Mence's "Enrapture" music video in late July.

Director of Photography / Producer - Alex Lamburini

Alex Lamburini is a director of photography and assistant cameraman from New York City, majoring in Cinemaotgraphy at Emerson College. Alex has interned for major production companies such as SMUGGLER in New York City and has worked on union commercial sets for IKEA, Target and H&M, Bear Naked Granola and the TV show, White Collar as a production assistant. Alex has shot on and worked with cameras such as the Sony F3, Cannon C300, RED Scarlet, RED ONE and RED Epic both as a 1st AC and a DP. Recently he completed principle photography on a music video for Boston based band, Royale and a web spot for internet company, Wiggio.com. 

Editor / Producer - Dylan Greiss

Dylan Greiss is a producer and editor from New Jersey majoring in Post-Production at Emerson College. Dylan has been involved on many films both at Emerson College and in a professional context. Dylan spent a year as video intern at DoSomething.org, filming celebrity PSAs. Dylan's most recent work is a music video he edited for local Boston band, Royale. Dylan has also edited commercials such as spots for companies such as Wiggio, Skyvi and Carl Zeiss, Inc. Dylan is excited to continue his roles as Producer and Editor on this music video and is ready to dive into this project and make a huge splash!

Production Designer - Jenell Randall

Jenell Randall is a creative director, production designer, and photographer from Boston, MA. When she is not in the throes of preproduction or on set, she spends most of her time collecting strange and lovely furniture, food, and friends, redecorating her living room for likely the 3rd themed surprise party that month, making uncanny but delicious baked goods, and taking an unyielding stream of pictures. Having recently graduated Emerson College, Jenell will soon be hopping a plane to Seattle to be the production designer for an independent feature film, right before zipping back to Long Island to help make this music video come to life! But after knocking this one out of the park (fingers crossed), Jenell shall be more permanently manifesting a western destiny finally making the move out to sunny LA, as an associate producer of an upcoming biopic starring Jamie Fox in september of 2013.

Art Director - Meghan Kaltenbach

Meghan Kaltenbach is an Emerson college student and filmmaker who focuses her talents on direction, art direction and production design. She is also employed as a graphic designer, where she hones her artistic skills and overuses the words “kearning” and “leading”. Her work has screened in festivals nationally and internationally since 2008. Meghan is addicted to caffeine and silent movies, and can’t wait to fill a pool with ravers and balloons!
