A bit about us:
We’re a team of filmmakers and graphic designers who are fed up of the image LGBT people have been given in today’s media, as the stereotypical ‘gay’. Most of us are from the UK but a few reside in Canada, and because of that we’ve been able to watch as the LGBT community struggles to gain equality in the US. Over the past month DOMA and Prop 8 have been struck down, and it’s a start, but it’s not enough and we want to document what is now a defining point for human rights.
Anyway, enough about us. Check out what we actually want to do below.
What we want to do:
For a long time we’ve wanted to create a documentary about what it’s truly like to be LGBT - focusing on the struggles and the triumphs we run into on a daily basis. Now that that we're moving closer by the day to equality, we think it’s the perfect time to get out there and film.
We want to interview lawmakers, well-known LGBT personalities (like YouTubers and celebrities), and you: the public. With all of our footage we’ll be able to put together a feature-length documentary film and get it out to as many people as possible; through film festivals, and of course BluRay and DVD, but most importantly - social media.
Not only do we want this to become the human rights film but we want it to be the most social film out there too, by really taking advantage of social media and putting it to its best use as a platform for change.
What we want to do summed up:
- Go to key locations in the US and Canada and interview people (New York, LA, Vancouver, and Toronto) - we’ll go to southern states too if we can afford it.
- Shoot daily life footage with two groups; one Canadian, and the other American.
- Inspire a school or business in each location to go gay-friendly.
- Put together a final documentary film and get it out to as many people as possible.
What we need money for:
We’re artists and unfortunately that means we don’t make as much as bankers. Due to our lack of funds we need your financial backing so we can produce the film.
Below is a breakdown of our costs:
On a final note:
Thanks for checking out our campaign. Obviously we would love if you could contribute to our funds but if you can’t then don’t worry, just share this page with your friends!
