Thank you to everyone who has contributed to this campaign. I'm so excited that everything has gone so well. If you contributed - THANK YOU. It means a lot to me to have your support.
Because I’ve reached my goal, it means that the book will definitely be printed. (Hurrah!) But please be patient. After the campaign ends, there is still much to do on the business-end of things before the books are printed and shipped to me. But I promise that as soon as they arrive at my door, I will, in turn, pass them off to all of you who have contributed $25 or more. In the meantime, please visit www.letscooking.ca for more Japanese recipes and information to help you get cooking!
A cookbook is meant to get you cooking
And that is the mission of Let's Cooking - to get you cooking healthy, delicious, and authentic Japanese food with minimal fuss.
I've written Let's Cooking to combat the perception is that Japanese cooking is complicated and difficult. Real Japanese cooking is simple. It's about applying basic cooking techniques to your favourite ingredients. That's what Let's Cooking is all about.
Let's Cooking will help you understand how to cook Japanese food, not just how to follow a recipe. The book features:
- A full-colour photo of every recipe, so you know what you're aiming for
- An entire chapter devoted to key Japanese ingredients
- A guide to Japanese cooking techniques and meal-planning
- Easy to follow "basic" recipes followed by variations on the theme, so that you can make the recipe just how you like it - using ingredients that you like best.
The idea is to give you the information you need to make the basic recipes, and enough context to build from them to create dishes of your own.
I've already compiled, tested, and revised the recipes, and I've worked with talented friends to photograph all of the recipes and to design a clean, easy to use cookbook. Now I just need the money it will take to print 500 books in glorious colour.
If I meet my funding goal of $7,000, this is how it'll be put to work:
- $6,000 will go to printing the book
- About $450 will go to Indiegogo for their fees
- About $550 will help me provide everyone's perks from this campaign
The important thing to remember with Indiegogo is that if I reach my goal, I'll get to print the book, but if I don't, you won't be charged a penny. You can't lose!
What You Get
Ultimately, this campaign isn't about getting your money - it's about getting you into the kitchen with a copy of "Let's Cooking", so you can cook and eat delicious Japanese food. That's why anyone donating $25 or more will receive an e-voucher for a free copy of the book, redeemable when the book is printed.
For donations of $75 and more (the key to making this project a reality) I've added extra fun options: an autographed copy of the book, an e-version of the book, an invitation to the launch party, or a private or group cooking lesson (for donors in the Vancouver area).
With your support, I will be giving back to everyone who has financially supported this project.
Thank you so much for your support, whether it's been donating to the campaign, by sharing it online with your family and friends, or by simple word of mouth.
When will I get the book?
My goal is to ship the book to you in time for Christmas 2013. This date may be pushed back due to the nature of the publishing process, but my promise is that I will update contributors on my progress and the anticipated shipping date.
Does the shipping fee get automatically charged to me through PayPal?
No. That's because your shipping costs depend on where you are. Please add the shipping charge on top of the cost of your chosen perk. That's $5 if you need the book shipped to you in Canada, $10 if you want the book sent to the U.S., and $20 if the book is heading overseas. If you live in Vancouver and I know you, then I think we can work something out. :)
How do I find out more about where I can purchase Let's Cooking?
Go to www.letscooking.ca and click on "book" to find out more about the book and how to get your hands on a copy after this campaign has finished.
