We canceled our Indiegogo campaign (read the FAQ),
but you can pre-order Koto or sign up for Koto news at koto.io

Koto is a family of smart sensors that monitor your indoor environment and let you know when you can make simple improvements that will keep your home and family healthy. The Koto app lets you know exactly what you need to change for each room in real-time, so you can:

Koto Blink is always there for you to suggest the little improvements that will keep you comfortable in any room. Just a few degrees too hot or cold can disturb your sleep, and you’ll feel much better when the humidity is just right. Blink knows what works best for different types or rooms and can even let you know when the room gets too dark to work or your party too noisy.

Koto Air can keep track of everything Blink does, but it can also detect when there’s too much dust or harmful gases in the air, so you can reduce the number of sick days during winter. With Air’s help, you can find the right balance between temperature and humidity that will keep mold, viruses and bugs away from your home. And you’ll also get alerts when it’s time to let some fresh air in.

Koto Storm measures everything Blink does, but it can also display notifications and sync all measures online through WiFi. By adding Koto Storm, both Koto Blink and Koto Air can sync online in real-time even when you’re not around. This allows you to check what’s going on at home from work (or the other way around) and to automate your connected home. Koto Storm also detects lightning strikes and changes in barometric pressure, so it can help you stay safer during storm season.

All Koto sensors sync data directly with your Bluetooth enabled iPhone or Android smartphone when you’re around. When you're behind your laptop, you can see the same information in the Koto web app.

If you want to be able to access your data from anywhere in the world, you can enable WiFi sync just by adding a Koto Storm to your Koto network. No extra base station required.
Koto smart sensors have their own IFTTT channel that allows them to send instructions to your smart thermostat, connected lights and other devices around your connected home. Now your smart home can finally act on real-time data based on measurements from the parts of your home that you use the most.

Are you a developer? We also have a web API that’s easy to integrate with your own apps or home automation systems.
Want to do advanced data analysis? No problem, we also provide detailed minute-by-minute data exports for any period of time. Because this is your data and you should be able to reuse it in any way you want to.
You can share all your Koto sensors with your family, let your friends see current room measurements or keep everything to yourself. Either way is fine. You are in control of your data and you decide how much you want to share with the people you trust. We keep your data safe on every step of the way.
As our thank you for being one of our early supporters, we’ve prepared some exclusive perks that will only be available during this campaign. Make sure to grab them while they last.
You can get individual Koto sensors or one of the packs that covers more rooms in your apartment, house or office.

Your support is crucial for the success of Koto sensors. Help us spread the word about this project among your friends, so we can build even better things for you.
We’ve got some special upgrades prepared if we can reach the following stretch goals:

We’re on schedule to get the first Koto sensors into your homes starting in February 2016. This timeline gives us enough time to throughly test the final hardware and optimize the app before shipping the sensors to you.

We’ve already spent months testing Koto prototypes at our own homes and at Koto HQ in Ljubljana. We’ve worked with existing and new suppliers and logistics partners to find the best way to optimize production and shipping. We’ve already chosen all the new materials and production methods that will be needed for our new generation of products. If this campaign is successful, we’ll be able to order all the parts we need in large enough quantities and start producing the first batch of Koto sensors by the end of the year.
On the software side, we’ve been preparing our backend for the new functionalities for months. We’re in the process of publishing our IFTTT channel and we’re finishing new firmware that supports direct Bluetooth sync. After that, we’ll start development on native iOS and Android apps that build on our existing web app.

Because we’ve done it before. As CubeSensors, we’ve shipped thousands of indoor monitoring Cubes to happy users in over 50 countries worldwide.

In addition to our core team, we also collaborate with experienced engineers and designers that have already helped us build, manufacture and ship CubeSensors. We’ve been together through thick and thin, but now we need your help to make the next step and bring Koto sensors into your homes.
We know that shipping hardware is hard, because we’ve done it before with CubeSensors. Here’s what our existing users say:

We’re now ready to do even more with Koto. We’ve made the sensors more affordable, flexible and easy to use.

We need your help to bring Koto sensors to more homes, faster. Your support will cover the cost of manufacturing, certification, and app development.
We chose Indigogo to introduce Koto because it has the best community of passionate, early-adoperts like you. We want to hear your thoughts and ideas on how we can make Koto sensors even smarter.
By supporting us, you can:

How can I reach your team if I have a questions or suggestions?
We can’t wait to hear from you in the comments section! You can also email us directly at info@koto.io.
I am an existing CubeSensors users, will I be able to use Koto smart sensors?
Yes! Koto sensors work seamlessly with your existing Cubes. Your existing CubeSensors Base even allows Koto Blink and Koto Air to sync measurements directly into the cloud through ZigBee. Koto Storm can also be used to extend the range of your existing CubeSensors network.
How often do Koto sensors update their measurements?
Koto Blink samples its environment every 5 minutes. Koto Air and Koto Storm update all measurements once every minute.
Which smartphones or tablets can sync with Koto sensors?
The Koto App will be available for free for iOS and Android devices with Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE). You can use the web version of the Koto app on Windows Phone and other devices with a modern web browser, but you won’t be to sync data directly with Koto Blink and Koto Air.
Is the Koto app free?
Yes! The Koto app is free to use, there are no additional subscriptions. We also provide free software updates both for the sensors and the app, so that your Koto sensors get even smarter over time.
Can I use Koto sensors without a smartphone?
Yes, if you have Koto Storm. Koto Storm connects to your WiFi network and can sync data from all Koto sensors online. If you use Koto Blink and Koto Air independently, you will need a BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) enabled smartphone or tablet with the Koto iOS or Android app to sync the data.
Do Koto sensors require an internet connection?
All Koto sensors can send your data directly to your iOS or Android smartphone or tablet via Bluetooth. If you want to access the data from anywhere in the world, you’ll need to connect a Koto Storm to your WiFi network.
Can I get alerts about my environment on my phone?
Yes! The iOS and Android apps provide push notifications to your phone. You can also connect your Koto account with IFTTT for even more flexibility regarding alerts and actions that should be taken when, for example, your home gets too cold or hot or the air quality gets bad.
How much space can a Koto sensor cover?
It depends on the type of room you have. Generally speaking, one Koto sensor per room should be enough in your home. We recommend placing Koto sensors close to where you spend most of the time, so you’ll get reliable measurements from the most relevant spots of any room.
Are Koto sensors battery powered?
Koto Blink has a built-in rechargeable battery that you’ll need to recharge just a few times per year (depending on usage). You can recharge Koto Blink with any standard certified USB mobile charger that you use for your phone.
Koto Air and Koto Storm have to be connected to a power supply to function. A USB power supply and Micro USB cable are included with every Koto Air and Koto Storm.
When will Koto sensors ship?
We expect to start shipping the early bird Koto sensors in February 2016, with other sensors and packs following in March 2016. We’ve given ourselves a generous timeline with enough time for final hardware testing. Shipping all perks will take some time, but we’ll take into account the date and time of each order.
In case of shipping delays (unfortunately, they can happen), we’ll send you regular updates regarding our shipping status, so you’ll always know when to expect your Koto sensors.
Where are Koto sensors shipped from?
We’ll ship your Koto sensors from Ljubljana, Slovenia (EU). We use a reliable express shipping provider to ensure a speedy, trackable, and safe delivery worldwide. Additional customs and sales taxes might apply during import outside of the EU, depending on your country or province.
Where are Koto sensors made?
We have an established network of partners and suppliers that make it possible to assemble and ship your Koto sensors from Ljubljana, Slovenia, in the heart of Europe. By assembling Koto sensors ourselves, we have better control over production, quality assurance, testing, and can easily implement small improvements when needed.
Each Koto sensor is thoroughly tested and packed with love by hand by our team. And in the rare case something goes wrong, we are able to ship you a replacement right away.
