Let's make an app that allows us to organize our books!

Our Story

One common complaint about the Fire is that it lacks the Collections feature of the other Kindles, which allows users to organize books into folders. We all love reading, and we need this feature on the Fire to help us keep track of our books! So we're going to take matters into our own hands and develop an app for the Kindle Fire that accomplishes this. But we can't do it alone.

We've got app development teams standing by to make this app a reality. They'll design it especially for the Fire, and it should even have a few more options than just what's on the original Kindle collections. We're hoping for something beautiful with background images of dusty bookshelves and cozy libraries to help get us in the mood for reading as we create our collections.

We roughly estimate that it'll take a month to develop, once we've reached our funding goal. The app will eventually make it into the Amazon Appstore, but everyone who contributes to this campaign will get a complimentary copy!

The Impact

We're hoping to bring one of the most-beloved features of the Kindle to the Kindle Fire, and it's no exaggeration to say that this is something everyone will want to have. You'll be able to create your own collections and hopefully access your books straight from this app. What are the consequences if this campaign doesn't happen? Well, we'll all just have to continue scrolling through our entire list of books to find the one we want without being able to bunch them together in ways that make sense. But let's show that we've got what it takes to find a solution for this!

What We Need & What You Get

We need to raise $5,000 to make this happen. It sounds like a lot, but that's only $10 from 500 people or $50 from 100 people. With all of the Kindle Fire lovers we have around here, we can easily make that happen. But if we don't there's no risk you for because all of the money will be refunded.

The vast majority of the money goes to the app developer, then there's a small amount left over for artwork and support if it's needed. IndieGoGo and Paypal take a percentage for allowing us to do this as well.

Here's what you get for contributing!

Everyone who pitches in $10 gets a copy of the app when it's finished.

Everyone who pitches in $25 gets a copy of the app and a copy of our Tips & Tricks Guide, The Kindle Fire Department Compendium.

Everyone who pitches in $50 gets the app, the guide, and the chance to beta-test the app and give us feedback. If you've never beta-tested an app, it can be exciting to be so closely involved in the development process. It's definitely worth it!

Everyone who pitches in $100 will get the app, the guide, the beta-testing spot, and a special Thank You on our site when the app finally gets released. This is your chance to be a Kindle Fire Department Hero!

Other Ways You Can Help

Once you've contributed, the most important thing you can do to make sure this app gets into your hands is to make sure other Kindle Fire owners are involved! Send links to your friends, post on forums in internet message boards, share on Facebook on the Kindle Fire and Amazon Kindle walls. We appreciate you getting behind this project, and we're going to see it through to the end!
