About Kicking Corporate Booty
We are in a political moment where things are rapidly changing. The Occupy movement has opened up new possibilities and made millions of people believe that another world is possible. There is a growing consciousness that we, as a society, need a new value system rooted in practices and structures of liberation. To create this new world, we will need to take on the corporations who are destroying our planet, devastating our communities, keeping us in debt, and profiting from it all. Kicking Corporate Booty will be a manual to help you do just that.
Kicking Corporate Booty is a flexible model of strategic organizing that empowers ordinary people to take on corporations and win. I have been working with and evolving this model for over twenty years; winning victories with low-wage workers, anti-nuclear youth activists, DREAM activists, foreclosed homeowners, and others fighting for justice.
Now it’s time for me to take what I’ve learned and make these ideas widely accessible by publishing the Kicking Corporate Booty Manual. This Manual will lay out strategies, principles, and tools to permeate the collective consciousness with your issue, focus on clear targets, and build to a period of compression and crisis to win your campaign while building a culture of liberation.
The Manual will also have a companion website with downloadable resources, case studies, and a searchable database of key corporate players, a map-maker, and a forum to share resources and data.
What the funding is for
- Archiving and preserving original campaign materials
- Building and designing the companion website, including the corporate database, interactive forum, and downloadable resources
- Costs associated with writing and editing
- Graphic design and illustration for the cover art and book layout, as well as designing the charts and resources so they are easy to reproduce and use online and offline
