The tragic four year relationship between the masterpiece novelist Julio Cortazar and Carol Dunlop, a forgotten Canadian writer.
Julio and Carol is a feature documentary that pieces together the unbelievably inspiring and heartbreaking story of Carol Dunlop and Julio Cortazar and the road map of love they left for the world in their book Autonauts of the Cosmoroute.
Our project has already attracted thousands of fans on Facebook and international press coverage, while millions of fans (literally) celebrate the 100th anniversary of Cortazar in 2014. We keep being told how amazing this story is. But we are out of cash – and we need your help to finish editing and animating our documentary.

What We Have
We've spent 11 months pouring our souls and personal savings into this project. We have full HD interviews with Julio and Carol's friends and family in Argentina, France, Switzerland and Canada. We re-traced their voyage from Paris to Marseille, and we even camped on the highway too! We collected hours of archival footage, hundreds of photos and boxes of letters. Now we've just got to put it all together and make magic :)
Where Your Support Goes
We are breaking down our fundraising goals to help us build the support gradually, and the momentum, as we crowdfund this entire film. The final budget will be well over $32,000 but for now we are starting simple.
Our goal of $12,500 will let us complete the interviews and primary shooting of the film. Most importantly, it will give us everything we need to put together a 10 minute preview of our doc to use to raise the remaining funds with another campaign and more traditional investors.
After that, we will have various stretch goals to help us finish our project even faster, such as hiring animators, producers and paying for post production.
