Who are you? What is this?

This post iintroduces readers to the JangHeung Area Children's Center in JangHeung County, South Korea.

JangHeung is one of the 5 poorest counties in Korea. Our Children's Center provides free education and nutrition programs for 61 children in our area. All of the children in our program come to us through the local Family Welfare Office in JangHeung Eup, the county capital. They are the poorest of the poor in this area.

We provide educational programs in Math, Science, Korean, Cooking, Music, English, Art, Sports, and Computers, to name a few. Our programs serve children in Elementary, Middle, and High School grade levels. Through our programs children gain the basic knowledge to become well-educated, productive members of society. For many, this may be the only chance they get! We do this work with less than $20.00 a month for each child in our education budget!!!

Our Children's Center Facilities include 3 classroom spaces. 2 of our classrooms are very small, 1-room buildings next to our main building. These classroom buildings have many problems:

  • Holes in the floors.
  • The electric no longer works.
  • The heat is bad.
  • The air conditioning no longer works.
  • Some of the windows are broken.

Currently we have 1 classroom to serve 61 children!!!

You can see pictures of the classrooms on our facebook page (link at the end). We have no money to fix or replace these buildings. We need your help to accomplish this vital goal.

Total funds needed for buying new classroom buildings is $12,000. Indiegogo is one part of our campaign to raise this funding. If this first 30-day campaign is successful we will do a 2nd soon to move further towards our goal.

Contribution Levels:

  • $25.00 Covers the cost of 1 square foot.
  • $50.00 Pays for 2 square feet.
  • $100.00 Makes you a wonderful person and puts a smile on our childrens faces!
  • Any donation amount is gratefully accepted, higher or lower.

All funds raised go directly to a special fund and will only be used for the new classroom buildings. Any amount over our goal of $12,000 will be used to purchase new computers for our computer class program.

What impact will your donation have?

Imagine for a moment that your children needed this service that we provide the community. Could they study in 1 room with 60 other children! This is the reality for the dhildren in our program. Your contribution makes it possible for our organization to continue providing quality education for these children who have nowhere else to go for their needs.

Everyone can help our project. It doesn't matter if you can make a cash donation or not. You can:

1. Tell your family, friends, and co-workers about our program. Give them a link to this page.
