Based on an almost true story
Isis Dynasty is a dramatic comedy about Isis Angelo, an aspiring Hollywood writer-director who is beginning to realize that her dreams just may never come true. Isis has no career, no man, no money, and she's at the end of her proverbial rope. Isis is living out of her car most of the day stuck in traffic feeling sidelined by life.
We see Isis Angelo struggle to make her mark in Hollywood while trying to stay honest to the bigger picture: her life.
Will she persevere and continue to navigate the dark, choppy waters of the entertainment industry? Or will she finally sacrifice the only dream she's ever had in favor of stability and solid ground?
In the tradition of Robert Townsend's Hollywood Shuffle, Isis Dynasty is a ground-breaking film satirizing the Hollywood experience. The result is a hilarious, poignant film that toes the intersection of class and culture in America, and the by-product thereof that is Hollywood.
The Cast includes: Fatima Washington (who also wears multiple hats co-directing and producing), Faizon Love, Paula Jai Parker, Golden Brooks, Ja’net Dubois, Chris
Williams, Charles Malik Whitfield, Kelitta Smith and Johnny 3Nutz.
In 2010, two Oakland, California natives decided not to wait for Hollywood to give them a shot. As a result, CorFat Productions was born! The CorFat team is spearheaded by Fatima Washington, a graduate of
USC's legendary Film School, with more than a decade of experience working
behind the scenes starting on In Living Color, and as a
director-producer for networks like MTV, BET, and NBC—she's done it
all!; and Corey Johnson, a performer, an MC, and a founding member of the
underground hip-hop sensation, the Living Legends. As a writer-director,
Corey Johnson has written over 17 feature length scripts, and written and
directed two full-length documentaries, a feature film, and over 25 music
Both huge fans of Curb Your Enthusiasm and In Living Color, Corey and Fatima were greatly inspired by Keenen Ivory Wayans and Larry David’s masterful approach to humor through improvisation.
Together, Fatima and Corey created
CorFat Productions with the Oakland mentality: WE DON'T STOP!
We've completed shooting --- the film is in the can, but we need to start post production by the first of the year. The cost to complete this film the right way; a finishing editor, scoring/composer, color grading, ADR, final audio mix, license music, main title design, compositor/visual effects, media storage etc. is not cheap, so we rolled up our sleeves and got dirty: we whittled down the budget, we asked for favors, we had a few garage sales, we performed some party tricks, (well, mainly just Corey) and when all is said and done, we can finish the movie and get it to film festivals for $27,850.
It's important to note that indiegogo takes 4% and, in addition, we want to put aside 2-3% for backers incentives. Indiegogo cautions to aim for "the minimum amount" to complete your film. $27,850 is our minumum. We hope we will far exceed our goal.
