Franklin is a Wastewater Services Technician. He loves his draft beer, fly fishing, and the workplace camarderie typical between urban infrastructure roustabouts.

One day, Franklin climbs from a manhole he was inspecting to find everyone gone. And by "everyone" I don't mean "every urban infrastructure roustabout," I mean everyone on the street. Everyone in cars, in shops, riding the bus- all vanished in the snap of a finger. Not even the chirping of birds- everything completely deserted.

He searches the city for any signs of life. Fruitless. As he spirals to the bottom of a deep depression, the unexpected happens.

This story will be told in a way that has never been done on film- through Cinemagraphs. Cinemagraphs are still images that have a small moving component. This process perfectly complements the desolation of a deserted world.

My name is Ross Ozarka, I'm a filmmaker, animator, and unicyclist currently living in Savannah, GA. I'm the director, writer, and editor of In Bad Company, which wouldn't be possible without the collaboration with talents such as:

Willie Cooley, Ace Producer

Evan Goodell, Crack Cinematographer

Nicole Sowards, Genius Production Designer

All of whom will be eternally grateful for your contribution, which allows them to work their magic.

This film aims to expressionistically capture a feeling we've all struggled with at some point- isolation- in a way that pushes the medium of filmmaking to new depths.

Short films are expensive to make. We're lucky enough to have access to industry-leading equipment, but there are still plenty of things we just can't get for free, like:

  • Food for the cast and crew
  • Permits to shut down streets
  • Festival distribution
  • Production design
  • Makeup
  • Costumes
  • Clothespins
  • Extension cords
  • Gaffer's table

I could go on. $3,000 is an extremely modest estimate. But it's a start, and it's why we need your help!

But we're not expecting to get something for nothing. To your right, you'll see a list of fabulous perks you'll receive for donations! Everything from embarassing secrets to advertising deals to signed copies of the finished film.

This project is valuable to the world. Apocalyptic stories have long been on the media's conscious, but they deal with the scenario rather than exposing character, which is the goal of In Bad Company.

Nobody has ever made a film comprised entirely of cinemagraphs before. This short will break new ground, and hopefully inspire others to push the medium.

This will be my tenth film. I've directed animations, horror-comedies, and a documentary on Napoleon. I have the knowledge, expertise, attention to detail, and unstoppable work ethic that will create the finest film.

We are working with a team of extremely talented visual and sonic artists, each one contributing to the film in a significant manner. This project means a lot to them as well- a chance to strut their stuff and add another gem to their reels and portfolios.

There would be no such thing as art if there weren't kind-hearted patrons like you. You're allowing talent to be honed and dreams to be made. Any contribution is very much appreciated.

We've been there. Your bank accounts in Zurich are all tied up, your Celadon pottery collection is on loan to the Smithsonian, and your diamond-studded cumberbund is at the drycleaners. You just can't contribute.

That doesn't mean you can help.

Spread the word! We're enveloped in social media. Tweet this! Post a link on your facebook! Tell a friend! Send this page to everyone in your contacts list! It takes less than 15 seconds to do us a HUGE solid.

IndieGoGo has some fascinating sharing tools, to! If you spread the word, our voice gets heard.

Thanks, and we love you.
