NodePaint is a image editing and drawing software that uses a node based approach to give you unbelievable flexibility and free your creativity from technical issues. While the node based approach is not new, node based software until now is usually geared towards movie and TV post production. NodePaint is the first software that specializes in the tasks of image editing and image creation. Node based image software of today is either free but very limited in feature set, or costs several thousand dollars and still is not optimized for image creation. NodePaint tries to fill this gap.
I am developing several 2D games at the moment and I ended up needing a flexible image editor for Linux. There is not much out there at the moment and therefor I decided to make one myself.
After almost a year of hard work and a couple of rewrites because the chosen technology ran into problems, I finally have a stable and fast basic multicore node framework and I am starting to add the nodes now.
I now need your help to cover a few things, like getting a Mac to be able to port it, getting necessary software licenses and cover some of my expenses to speed up the process.
The final version will be available for EUR 49 which is very affordable for professional high end image editing solution. This is your chance so save money and support the development, and most important, being a part of building your favorite image editing and painting solution.
Starting from the 19 EUR perk, you will get access to the ticket system which will allow you not only to report bugs, but also to download current releases and request features and therefor make the application to what you need.
I am planning to release weekly builds which you will be able to download from the ticket system until version 1 is considered to be finished. Of course occasionally there will be features that take more then a week to develop, but 90% of the time you will see the application be filled with new functionality every week, you will be able to play around with it and give feedback about it to help further improve NodePaint.

My name is Heiko Irrgang, I started developing games way back on the Commodore 64 and since then I spent all of my professional and a lot of my personal life developing all kind of things, including several open source projects, but also commercial games and applications. A node based image editing software was a long dream of mine and finally I have something to build upon. Thank you very much for taking the time to read this and I would really appreciate your help by supporting this project, no matter if financial, or by spreading the word in forums, in life and where ever you think it's appropriate.
