Hello, we are David, Daniel, and Patrick Nelson, founders of i'mME. The three of us went on our first international mission trip together as brothers in July 2012 with Coreluv International. The trip proved to be a pivotal turning point in each of our lives, and we were enthused with passion to end the vicious epidemic we call the orphan cycle in Haiti. Before the trip the three of us weren't close, but we experienced the congruent power of God's love and passion each day that brought us closer than ever. We were being confronted with our true identities both individually and collectively as brothers. We were being invited to embrace the purpose that was originally intended for us from the beginning. Each day we spent with the orphans in Haiti, our hearts grew closer to the reality of our purpose and destiny. How could we say no? Four months later we decided to launch this organization with a mission to shelter, love, feed, care, and empower the orphans of Haiti to find their identity and purpose just as we did.
This campaign is very significant to us, because the funds we raise will allow us to cement our presence on Haitian soil. Up to this point we have relied upon other organizations to house and transport us to the places we need to go. Because of this, we haven't been able to travel to Haiti as often as we would like.
The concept of a traditional orphanage institution will not be cultivated through the efforts of i'mME, rather the implementation of cottages that portray the heartbeat and atmosphere of family. Our vision is to have 7-8 orphans and a housemother in each cottage. The housemother will fulfilling the role of a mother by catering to their every need and showering them with love. Each day the children come home from school, they will feel like they are home and belong to a family.
In order to effectively begin our work in Haiti, we must have a place of residence. We cannot purchase land, attain legal guardianship over children, or assemble a Haitian staff without Haitian residency. Once we have a place in Haiti to operateout of, we will be able to acquire a Haitian residency and take the next step in what God has in store for us.
With the ability to travel and stay in Haiti as much as needed, we will need to have our own source of transportation. Renting a car in Haiti is extremely expensive, and borrowing vehicles is a hassle. With Haitian Residency, we will be able to buy our own car. Having a house and car in Haiti will give us the ability to put God's vision for us into action.
There is so much need in Haiti, and every little bit goes a long way.
To provide a financial breakdown for you: $17,000 will provide 12 months of rent and utilities; $23,000 will allow us to purchase a vehicle for transportation; $5,000 to furnish the house; $5,000 for hiring translators and Haitian staff.
David has been blessed with the opportunity to play professional football, and the platform that comes with it. However, the vision will not become a reality without the help of people like you. Together we can do significantly more than we can individually. Join us in our efforts and pledge a dollar amount to defend the cause of the orphan.
If you aren't able to contribute financially there are other ways you can help. Share this link on your social media platforms or email blasts, and tell your friends and family about it. We take great pleasure in hearing about how people take ownership in the efforts of i'mME. We want you to call this "MY MISSION."
