What is Hôtel Méditerranée?
Hôtel Méditerranée is a new theatre piece adapted and directed by Nadia Foskolou that will make its world premiere at Between the Seas Festival 2014.
Performance dates: July 21 at 8pm & July 26 at 8:30pm
at The Wild Project / New York
Hôtel Méditerranée is a collage of live performance and video based on two source materials: the play Matisse’s Self Portrait by the avant-garde American playwright Charles Mee, and the Greek film documentary Yiannis Moralis by Stelios Charalambopoulos. It follows the lives of two renowned painters—a fictional Henri Matisse and the real Yiannis Moralis—and explores the angsts and pleasures behind all great creativity, and behind all human existence by investigating the negotiation of creative process and the everyday need to make a living.

What We Need & What You Get
We need to raise $3,500 to cover the bare minimum production costs. ANY donation amount would help.
Even though the festival provides us with many tangible means of support–performance space, basic marketing and publicity, some technical assistance–we are still responsible for many other aspects of the production.
Here's what we plan to do with your money:
- Pay people: some of our designers, performers, including the director, have traveled all the way from Greece on their own expenses just to do this show. The least we can do is offer our team a small fee for their hard work and commitment. Total fees: $1,900
- Pay for production expenses: The piece is minimal with heightened physicality and playfulness. We still need to acquire some set pieces, costumes and some extra sound, projection equipment. Total production expenses: $1,600
What's the risk?
How do you pronounce Hôtel Méditerranée?
You didn't take French in school? Guess what. Neither did we. Here's your two-word French survival guide:

Did anyone say side project?
Hôtel Méditerranée has been running an ongoing side project.
I AM AN ARTIST is part video blog, part social [media] experiment. We invite all artists of any discipline and from all over the world to film themselves on a smart device while responding to the following question: What is your greatest fear/anxiety right now?
The goal is to create a public forum where artists can share their angsts, investigate how fear and anxiety is interpreted by each individual, and eventually explore if and how the various responses deviate, or not, from our overall anxieties as human beings. See videos & participation guidelines here: iamanartist-blog.tumblr.com
You can share this campaign on your social media and/or you can come to see the show. This would still mean the world to us.
