Project Jessie is a rescue network - we rescue primarily from shelters that send their animals to research, or would euthanize for inappropriate reasons such as overcrowding, treatable medical issues, or minor behavioral concerns. Animals are fully vetted, cared for in foster homes and then adopted into permanent homes.
Valiant is a former race horse who fell on hard times. Starved and near death he was turned over to a long time Project Jessie foster family for love, food, and rehabilitation.
Valiant has touched the hearts of everyone at Project Jessie and Animal Alliance. We're sure he'll touch your heart as well.
What Val Needs
Horses are expensive at the best of times - Valiant will have all the regular needs of a horse - blacksmith, routine vetting, boarding fees (about $5,000 a year) but he will also face exceptional costs - baseline vet work and ongoing check ups, extra blankets, more stall time - which requires more care, special hay which is more expensive and a lot of extra feed and supplementation as his system can handle. He was rescued with no expectation of financial support but his story and his personality have touched many people already. He faces a long and difficult journey but every bit of support is most gratefully received.
We so appreciate every contribution material, financial or emotional. No matter if we reach our goal, the monies raised through this
campaign will be going to Val's care and needs, vet bills and farrier
bills.
Why Val?
Why help just one horse? We asked ourselves that too. One of Team Valiant's humans likes to quote Helen Keller:
"I am only one, but still I am one. I cannot do everything, but still I can do something; and because I cannot do everything, I will not refuse to do something that I can do."
None of us can
save every animal alone, but by never forgetting our capacity to help the
individuals in need, we, together, can do so much. Valiant is touching all who see
him or hear about him. Please join Team Val today!
Other Ways You Can Help
You may not be able to contribute financially at this time, but your emotional support means the world to Val and his caregivers and to us too! Share this page to encourage more people to give what they can and follow his story through Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/groups/212928285542138/
Be a part of a hopeful journey and help at whatever level you can!
On behalf of Valiant, our deepest gratitude,
The Project Jessie rescue crew and Team Valiant
