Smile and the whole world smiles with you-it's true. By smiling at someone, you have the capacity to ignite a chain reaction of other smiles.

THROUGH THE TOUGHEST TIMES I'VE HAD MY SMILE. I sacrificed everything for my family. When our daughter(PICTURED ABOVE AT 2 1/2 YEARS OLD) was born with a facial tumor & the insurance company denied coverage, I became a fundraiser. When she became an outcast at school, I became a homeschool teacher. Torn between working & our daughter needing me home, I became more frugal, more fierce, more determined & more creative which is why I'm here.

When our daughter needed surgery that we could not afford, I used every resource I could find to get help. I was in unfamiliar territory. I had never heard of hemangiomas and I had never had a fundraiser. I decided to have a garage sale to raise the funds to get her to Little Rock, Arkansas to a specialist that agreed to donate the surgery. Everyone laughed & wondered how I would be able to raise enough money with a yard sale. My garage sale raised around $40,000 & covered our daughter's first 3 operations(she has had 11 operations to date) and travel expenses. When we were forced to sell our home because we were struggling on my husband's $400 a week salary as an electrician, I decided to learn how to sell our home by myself & save the 6% commission that we so desperately needed. I sold it within 3 months when we had only one mortgage payment left in the bank. When my husband lost his job last year he was devastated. I created a cover letter and resume and faxed, mailed & emailed every electrical contractor I could find. He was offered a job right away and never lost a day.(Keep in mind my husband is an excellent electrician with an incredible reputation and outstanding references. He has tremendous work ethic & in all the 24 years that we have been married, he has never taken a sick day or personal day.) When I realized that I needed to give up my career for our daughter I knew we would never be able to make ends meet on one salary. In addition to fund raising & caring for my family I started my own pet sitting business which I ran for several years. I cut my family's hair, learned how to groom the dogs, mowed our lawn, clipped coupons, shopped in thrift stores, refinanced what I could refinance,  juggled what I could juggle, reduced our insurance rates and anything else I could think of. So here I am at #%? years young with no retirement still caring for our daughter who is now dealing with sometimes debilitating OCD(sadly after everything she has already been through, she was diagnosed with OCD & ADD several years ago). Then I get the news about my teeth and the word dentures is mentioned and all I could do was cry. You see, I was able to help figure out a way to help our daughter and was able to find a way to help my husband get a job, I could figure out a way to reduce our budget & keep my family healthy BUT finding a way to be able to afford to fix my teeth and save my dignity, my confidence and the smile my family relies on? I don't have the solution for this one and that is how I wound up scouring the Internet and finding indiegogo.

I checked with all of the Dental foundations and I don't qualify for any assistance because my husband makes too much money as an electrician even though he doesn't make enough to make ends meet. Even if I did qualify and they could work out a payment plan, we couldn't possibly afford another bill. We just cannot afford to go any further in debt than we already are. I consulted with many dentists and got second & third opinions as well as several estimates. I was lucky to find a conservative and more realistic and reasonably priced dentist in our area. I would be happy to provide you with a copy of the complete estimate and answer any questions you might have.

As you can see I have done my homework, researched my options and been  quite creative in my efforts to save my smile. I have done everything I can to help my family and for the first time I am asking for help.

My smile hides the pain of watching our daughter struggle with OCD every day and how society views her because of the difference in her physical appearance from her surgeries. My smile helps comfort my family and can help others to smile. It is amazing how simple a kind gesture, a touch or a smile can do for someone else. Many people do not realize the power of a smile. A smile can work magic, it can heal emotional pain and it can remove physical pain. When you smile at another person you not only let them feel that they are wanted, accepted and appreciated, but that smile can also offer encouragement too. That one simple smile has the power to calm fear, insecurity, hurt, and anxiety. A single smile has the power within it to change the world because smiles can be shared. Smiles are contagious, so when you smile at another person, you pass all the wonderful benefits of smiling on to that person. Help me save my smile and I will continue to smile and brighten someone's day.

That's the time you must keep on trying
Smile, what's the use of crying?
You'll find that life is still worthwhile
If you just smile...........

Thanks for allowing me to share my story. Have a wonderful day and don't forget to SMILE!

When was the last time you received a good old fashioned, handwritten thank you note? Have we all gotten so busy these days that we have forgotten the simplest of good manners? In this age of social media, emails, IM, PM, texting, etc., it seems that no one takes the time to write thank you notes or even Birthday and Christmas cards. If you're like me and miss getting thank you notes, you're in for a treat! Every gift or act of kindness deserves a thank you and I will send you a thank you card.
