My name is Jose and I am trying to raise money to help pay off my mom's debt from her cancer treatments.
My mom, Sally Ramirez, is a registrar/office assistant at a middle school in Fresno, California. She has worked for the school district for almost 25 years and prior to the last year you couldn't get her to stay home from work for anything! She is fiercely independent and hard working and that showed in how committed she is to her job, her co-workers and the kids at her school. I am so proud of my mom and I would do anything I can to make her life easier.
This last December I had to rush her to the hospital with what was determined to be bleeding in her liver. Further testing confirmed that she had a malignant, cancerous tumor that was causing the bleeding and she would need chemotherapy and radiation treatments. While she is insured (thank God), our school district's medical coverage recently changed and covers less than it used to. We are left with a couple thousand dollars in unpaid medical bills and they are still coming. I hate that I'm out of savings and money to help her and now we are talking about having her cram in with my brother or I to save rent money to pay bills.
The doctors have told us that this is a rare and aggressive cancer that even if cured (we'll know in another couple of months), will require us to watch for it for the rest of her life. Her current prognosis is good, but I don't want her to worry about money while in the back of her mind she worries if her cancer is going to keep coming for her.
My mom's birthday is October 1st and I would like to help her celebrate her 55th birthday by ending this campaign on that day and presenting her with some peace of mind in the way of this campaign's contributions.
Please, if you can help at all, help my mom in her fight to beat cancer.
Our current situation is as follows:
After several thosand dollars of deductibles and co-pays our insurance kicks in to 100% of MOST medical issues. But not all. Also, at the end of the calendar year coverage resets and deductibles will be expected again if she needs more treatment next year. We have already paid thousands in deductibles and she still currently has about $2500 in medical bills that we simply don't have the money to pay. Before her current treatments wrap up in the next couple of weeks we expect that to reach $3000. That is why I have decided to launch this campaign. I am hoping there are some generous people in better financial shape than we are who are willing to help. Anything will be appreciated.
Other Ways You Can Help
If you can't contribute money, please then try to spread the word about this campaign to anyone and everyone who might be able to help contribute. That would do a lot.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.
