About the International Summer Jazz Academy:
The International Summer Jazz Academy is an annual jazz education program serving students in Eastern Europe by a collaborative faculty from the U.S., Poland, and Austria. Students have traveled from the United States, Poland, the Czech Republic, Hungary, the Ukraine, Germany, Greece, Denmark, and Russia to attend. Students attend daily music theory classes, master classes, group rehearsals, as well as performances by guest clinicians, with a final performance at the end of the two week camp.
In recent years, ISJA has had to consolidate the scope of their program due to a lack of funding. Through your generous contribution we hope to restore the program's depth and breadth by exchanging more faculty and students between the US and Europe.
Value of the ISJA
It has become clear that in both the U.S. and Europe there exist strong but different and unique traditions in improvised jazz. It's important to maintain an exchange between players and educators from both continents to expose the students to a musical concept that is as broad as possible. The end result is an enriching and exciting educational experience that transcends the language barrier.
